LESSON PLAN

UNIT 10: WHAT DO YOU DO AT BREAK TIME?

Lesson 3: (1, 2, 3)

I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students can:

- Pronounce the sounds of the letters bl and sk in the words blind and skating respectively

- Listen and write the words in the blanks

- Chant well

II Languages focus:

1 Vocabulary: blind, skating

2 Sentence patterns: What do you do at break time? – I play ………

III Resources: student’s book, recording, cards, pictures, cassette

Procedure

1 Warm-up

2 Listen & repeat

- Write the letters bl and sk on the board

- Present the sounds: “bl”, “sk”

- Play the recording and ask students to repeat a few times

- Write the words blind and skating and the sentences:

Do you like blind man’s bluff? and I like skating

on the board

- Play the recording and let students say the words and the phrases

- Ask students to find some words with the sounds: “ bl”

and “sk”

- Have students read the sounds, words and phrases in chorus and individually

- Tell students that they are going to listen to the recording, circle the correct options and then write the words in the blanks

- Ask students to read the sentences and guess the words

to fill the gaps ( in 2 minutes)

- Have students listen and do the task Then compare the answers with a partner

- Call some students to read the sentences aloud

Tell students that they are going to say the “What do

you do at break time?” chant

- Read each line of the chant and have students repeat it

a few times Show them how to say the chant and do

- Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and

do the actions The rest of the class claps along to the

rhythm

- Read the sentences on the left and pair them with those on the right by drawing a line between them

- Write about themselves

1 Vocabulary: skipping, skating, hide-and-seek, blind man’s bluff, football, badminton,

basketball, chess, table tennis, break time

2 Sentence patterns: What do you do at break time? – I play ………

Do you like ……….? – Yes, I do./ No, I don’t

III Resources: student’s book, recording, cards, pictures, cassette

- Have the class review the chant “What do you do at

- Tell students that they are going to read the sentences

on the left and pair them with those on the right by drawing a line between them

- Give a few seconds for students to read the text in silence

- Discuss the first sentence with students as an example
