A The present simple tense

* Form:

S + V ( Hình thức quá khứ đơn )

* Use: Thì quá khứ đơn thờng đợc sử dụng trong các trờng hợp sau :

1 Diễn tả một hành động xảy ra tại một điểm thời gian đợc xác định rõ ở quá khứ

Ex: - She left PleiKu City for HaNoi yesterday.

- I saw them in the street about 2 hours ago

2 Diễn tả một trạng thái ở quá khứ

Ex: - It was rainy last week.

- He didn’t look happy yesterday.

3 Khi hai hành động xảy ra ở quá khứ, hành động này xảy ra trớc hành động kia , ta dùng thì quá khứ đơn để diễn tả hành động xảy ra sau.

Ex : After we had finished dinner, they went out for a walk last night.

*Note : Căn cứ vào cách thành lập hình thức quá khứ và quá khứ phân

từ , động từ trong Tiếng Anh đợc phân thành hai loại chính sau :

- Regular verbs ( Động từ có qui tắc ): Là động từ có hình thức quá khứ đơn

và quá khứ phân từ đợc thành lập bằng cách thêm “ed” vào sau hình thức nguyênmẫu

Ex: + Rain - rained

+ Start – started

+ Watch – watched

- Irregular verbs ( Động từ bất qui tắc) – là các động từ nằm trong “ Bảng các động từ bất qui tắc”

Ex: + Eat – ate – eaten

+ Drink – drank – drunk

+ Fall – fell – fallen

B.Conditional sentence type 2 with “wish”

* Form

S + wish + S + past simple

* Use: Câu điều kiện loại 2 dùng để diễn tả hành động, sự việc không có thật

hoặc không thể xảy ra ở hiện tại

Ex: - I wish there were rivers and lakes in my hometown.

- I wish I were taller.

* Note: Trong câu điều kiện loại 2 , động từ TOBE đợc chia là Were cho tất cả các ngôi ( kể cả I )

C The present perfect tense

* Form

S + have/has + Past participle (p.p)

* Use: Thì hiện tại hoàn thành thờng đợc sử dụng trong các trờng hợp sau :

1 Diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra ở quá khứ nhng không xác định rã thời gian

Ex: - I have taught English 5 years ago.

- He has known her recently.

2.Diễn tả một hành động vừa mới xảy ra ở quá khứ

Ex: These letters have just arrived.

Note: Trong cách dùng này , thờng có trạng từ “just” đợc dùng kèm và

đứng giữa trợ động từ “have/has” và quá khứ phân từ

3.Diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra ở quá khứ và còn kéo dài đến thời điểm nói ở hiện tại

Ex: - It hasn’t rained sice May 1st

4.Diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra ở quá khứ và hậu quả còn ảnh hởng đến hiện tại

Ex: The flood in 2006 affected ( ảnh hởng ) local people’s lives.

5.Diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra ở một thời điểm thời gian cha kết thúc

Ex: How many pages of the novel have you read today?
