II Warm up: Matching

- T hangs and shows the four pictures on the Bb (P 74)

- Ss match them with the four words: snowstorm, earthquake, volcano, typhoon

- Give feedback

III Pre-reading:

1 Pre-teach Vocab:

- What is she doing? – She’s playing with her dog, skippy

Lan is outside palying with her dog

Pic 2:- How is the dog? – It looks strange Perhaps it is scared.

All of a sudden, the dog behaves strangely

Pic 3:- What’s on TV? – It’s the weather forecast

- What does Lan’s mother say? – She says that she has just heard on TV that there is a typhoon coming

Lan ran home and her mother tells her that there is a typhoon coming

Pic 4: What are they doing? – They are gathering her family and asks them to find shelter in her

house

Pic 5: What’s the weather like now? – It is very dark It has strong wind and heavy rain.

Suddenly, it becomes dark The storm comes with strong wind and heavy rain

Pic 6: What’s the weather like now? – It’s fine

How are they now? – They all are happy

The storm finishes soon and everyone is glad

IV While writing:

- Ask Ss to look at the pictures and retell the story

- Have Ss write a story in group, using cues in the box on P.79

- T divides class into 4 groups, each group- two pictures

- T goes around and help Ss to write

V Post writing: Correction

- T takes the writings of 4 groups to correct on front of the class

II Warm up:

- T hangs the poster in which there are two following sentences:

1* The city which was struck by a huge earthquake in 1995 in Japan is Kobe

2* Tom, who is very intelligent, is one of my closest friends

- Ask Ss to show the Relative pronouns and the Rel –Clauses in these sentences

- T explains grammar notes

III Grammar notes:

1 Defining Rel-Clauses: identify nouns, these clauses tell us that person or thing the speaker means (Ex: 1*)

2 Non-defining Rel-Clauses:

- Give more information about a person or thing already identified When we write these clauses we put commas at the beginning of the clause and of the end of the clause

- We can’t use “that” in a non-defining Rel-cl

- In a non-defining Rel-Cl we can’t leave out “who” or “which” (Ex: 2*)
