LESSON 3-4

I AIMS:

1 Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

 Read and say the three Ii words correctly

 Recognize and say a new Ii word correctly

Vocabulary : Ink, igloo, iguana, insect

2 Skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing

3.Attitude: Recognize and pronounce the letter Ii and its sound

II TEACHING AIDS

- Teacher’s:i-Learn My Phonics Grade 1 , lesson plan, CD Phonics cards

- Students’: Pupil’s Book –p.9 i-Learn My Phonics Grade 1,

Activity book – p.22 - p.23

II.TEACHING METHODS

- Communicative approach

- Techniques: + Ask and answer (say individually)

+ Work in pairs/ groups Discuss

- Greeting

- Checking for the students' attendance.

Ask the students to open their notebooks In two minutes, the students write as many Ii's as they can The winner is the student who has written the most

7 Listen Point and repeat (Track 07)

 Show the students the insect phonics card

Point to it and say: /ɪ / - insect Ask them to

repeat

Mime an insect crawling up the arm and

say /ɪ / - insect Encourage the students to

do the same

Point to the pictures, the students do

corresponding actions and say the words

Divide the class into groups of two

The first student point to the pictures and

the other student say the word then change

the roles

Colour

Point to the pictures and have students

name them

Allow the students some time to colour in

the pictures of the words that start with the

I sound

Go around the classroom providing any

necessary help

Have the class repeat its sound chorally,

then individually

necessary

Demonstrate how to write the big I by

stroke

Draw an example of letter I using dashed

lines

Use a different colored chalk to model

tracing the letter I

Have some students practice tracing letter

I on the board

Have students trace letter I and i in the

books

Students say /a/ after each finished letter

Go around to give help if necessary

Repeat the same procedure with the

lower letter i

 Move around and ask students to read the

object they are colouring
