UNIT 8 : LESSON 1 : Hh

I.Objective :

- By the end of the lesson , students will be able to recognize and pronounce

the letter Hh /h/and its sound correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Hh words

- Write the letter Hh

1 Language focus:

Vocabulary: hat, hen, hippo

Sight words: a, happy, with

2 Skill: listening, speaking ,reading , writing

3.Attitude: to teach ps like some things…

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher: - Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the

chant

2 Student: - Student’s book, Activity book

III Method:

- TPA, PPP

IV.Procedures:

1 Organization:

- Greeting

- Check student attendence

2 Warm up (5’)

Revise the words Unit 7 Make two columns on the board

Ask the ps to make the letters in column one to those in the column to make

four words

3 New lesson 30’

1 Listen, point and repeat Colour.10’

-Introduction of letter H , It’s sound and

how to pronounce the words beginning with

Hh

- Use a card with letter Hh or write on the

board the letter Hh to introduce to the

students the new lesson

- Ask students how to pronouce the letter

name and the letter sound by saying “ This

is the letter Hh /h/ The letter g says / h/

-Repeat several times and check student’s

pronunciation(letter Hh /h/ and its sound / /

-Use the phonics cards read the words out

loud and ask students to repeat

-Use gestures (hand actions ) to help

students to understand the meanings of the

three words

-Check student’s understanding T says the

words,all ss do actions and vice versa

-Call some ss to say the words out loud and

correct their mistakes

* Practice 5’

*Activity1 : Memory game

- Put the phonics cards of hat, hen, hippo

Hh on the board

- Ak ss to memorise the order of these cards

- Ask ss to close their eyes ,remove one

phonics card radmly and ask individual ss to

name it

- Continue changing the other cards

- Remember to correct student’s

pronunciation throughout the lesson

*Activity 2: Where the letter 3’

- Ask ss to work in groups T hangs out the

photographs about the storry and ask ss to

circle the letter

- T give the time

- T corrects and praise the winner

2 Listen and point Colour 7’

- Ask ss to look at the books and listen to

the words A hen with a hat! Ha, ha!

A hippo with a hat! Ha, ha! -Use gestures

( hand actions ) to help ss to

understanding the meaning of command

-Ask ss to repeat by using the phonics cards

of hat, hen, hippo combining with gestures

- Ask ss to colour hat

- T goes round the classroom

*Activitiy :Pass the phonic card

- Using the phonic cards of Hh hat, hen,

hippo and line up the ss into 2 teams

Put the phonics cards of hat, hen,

hippo Hh

Activity 2: Where the letter write down the words hat, hen, hippo

-Give the first ss of each team a phonics

card and say “go “

- Ss say the coresponding words and pass

the phonics card over their head to the ss

behind them

- Next, those ss repeat the words and pass

the phonics card between their legs to the ss

behind them

- Continue to pass the phonic card over their

head and between their legs to the last ss

- The last ss in each team give the card to

teacher and say the word correctly They

will get one point

- Which team has the most point wiil be

winner Continue the game as many times

as necessary

3 Chant and show: 10’

-Put up the lyris of the chant on the board

- Without music , use the phonics card and

step ss to sing the chant with hat Do the

same with hen and hippo

- With music ,the whole class sing the

whole chant Do the chant again using

gestures for eag word

- Give feedback

* Production:1’

- Show the letter Hh again , and ask ss to

write the Hh in air with their fingers

- Ask ss to write down the words hat, hen,

hippo into their notebook

- T asks whole class to read the letter aloud

I Objective :

- To practise the sound of the letter Hh/ h/ and the coresponding words

- Learn and practise reading skills and sing a song

- Put up the card on board T calls the letter and ask

ss to mine the action and say the sound

point to the picture of Do the same with hat

and hen

-Ask ss to listen the story and glass point to

the picture of key words when they hear them

in the story

- Ss work in pairs ,one read and one check

- Ask ss point to the sight word.Ss listen and

repeat and read aloud

- Ask ss to point the ant and say H for hat

.Do the same with the rest of the song

- Ask ss to take out the ant ,apple alligator

picture cards and put them on the desk

- Play the CD and ask ss listen and hold up the

corresponding card

3 Pactise: 8’

*Activity : Which one is missing

- Put the card up on the table and give ss e

minute to look at them and ask ss close their

eyes and take away a card

- Ss open their eyes and name the card missing
