UNIT 9: LESSON 1 : Ii (P1)

I Objective :

- By the end of the lesson, students can be able to:

- Recognize and pronounce the letter I iand its sound correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Ii words

- Write the letter Ii

1 Language focus:

Vocabulary: ink, igloo, iguana

Sight words: here is, in, my, with

2 Skill:

Listening, speaking ,reading , writing

3.Attitude: Teach Ps to newwords and letter or sound

II Teaching aids:

1 Teacher:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper , colour

2 Student:

- Student’s book

- TPA, PPP

- Greeting

- Check student attendence

2 Warm up (5’)

Ask the pupilsto take out their own picture cards for the letters Ee, Ff, Gg and Hh

- T say one of the words

3 New lesson ( 30’ )

Teacher – Students’ activies Content

1 Listen , point and repeat Colour 7’

- Show the students the van phonic card

- Point to it ans say: /ai/

- Say: /i/ -ink

- Put the phonics card up on the board.mime to

write and say /i/- ink

- Encourage Ss to do the same

- Say the letter.

- Do the same with the words igloo and

iguana

- Write the letter Ii on the board next to the

phonics cards.Point to it and say : this is the

letter /ai/ the letter/ai/ make the /i/sound

2 Practice 5’

*Activity1 : Memory game

- Put the phonics cards of ink, igloo , iguana

and Ii on the board

- Ak ss to memorise the order of these cards

- Ask ss to close their eyes ,remove one

phonics card radmly and ask individual ss to

name it

- Continue changing the other cards

- Remember to correct student’s pronunciation

throughout the lesson

*Activity 2: Where the letter 5’

- Ask ss to work in groups T hangs out the

photographs about the story and ask ss to

circle the letter

- T give the time

- T corrects and praise the winner

3 Production 8’

- Show the letter Ii again , and ask ss to write

the Ii in air with their fingers

- Ask ss to write down the words ink, igloo,

iguana into their notebook

I Objective :

- Recognize and pronounce the letter Ii and its sound correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Ii words

- Write the letter Ii

1 Language focus:

Vocabulary: ink, igloo, iguana

Sight words: here is, in, my, with

3.Attitude: to teach ps ink, igloo, iguana

- Ask ss to review the letter Ii and the words: ink, igloo, iguana

3 New lesson 30’

1 Listen and point choose 10’:

- Point to the ink and say: Oh, no ! My ink!

- Do the same procedurefor the igloo and

iguana

- Play the CD(2time

- Ask Ss to choose the correct one for each

correspondingitem

- Go around the classroom and provide

necessary help

Activity: Pass the phonics card Game 5’

- Using the phonics cards of ink, igloo, iguana

- Line up the students into 2 teams

- Give the first students of each team a phonics

card and say “Go”

- The students say the corresponding words and

pass the phonics card over their head to the

students behind them

- Next, those students repeat the word and pass

the phonics card between their legs to the

students behind them

- Continue to pass the phonics card over their

heads and between their legs to the last students

- Which team hands their phonics card to

Teacher and says the word correctly will get one

point

- Which team has the most point will be the

winner

- Continue the game as many times as necessary

2 Chant and show! 8’

- Put up the lyrics of the chant on the board

- Without music, use the phonics cards and step

students to sing the chant with ink Do the same

with igloo and iguana

- With music, the whole class sings the whole

chant Do the chant again using gestures for

each word

- Give feedback

3.Production 5’

Activity 2: Write down the words into

Students’ notebook

- Ask students write down: ink, igloo, iguana

into their notebook
