LESSON 1: a FRIENDS (A 1, A3)

I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Greet people and identify oneself

- Give different greetings to people of different age

- Develop their speaking skill

II PREPARATIONS: Textbook, cassette tape, pictures

III PROCEDURES:

1 WARM – UP: (5’)

- Have a chat with students

1 What do you do during the summer

vacation?

2 What do you say to your friends when you

first meet after summer holidays?

3 Are you happy to be back to school again?

2 PRESENTATION: (5’)

- Have students look at the pictures part 1/ p.10

- Ask questions

1 How many people are there?

2 Who are they?

3 PRACTICE: (20’)

- Have students listen to the tape

- Have students notice the difference between

”Nice to meet/see you” and “Nice to meet/see

you”

- Have students practice the dialogues

- Explain the sentence “So am I”

- Ask students to look at the picture part A3/p 12

- Ask questions

1 Who are they?

3 What does Mr.Tan do?

4 What does Nga do?

5 How does Mr Tan greet Nga and vice versa?

- Introduce the lesson
