UNIT 13: WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MILK?

LESSON 2 (1- 3)

A AIMS

- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to offer someone food or drink and

accept/ decline someone’s offer

- Develop Ss speaking skill

* Language focus:

- Sentence Patterns: - Would you like some noodles?

+ Yes, please./ No, thanks

B TEACHING AIDS

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, loudspeaker, laptop.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks

C PROCEDURE

I WARM - UP

Sing the song “My favourite food and drink”

II NEW LESSON

1 Look, listen and repeat

- Ask pupils the names of the characters and where they are: Linda, Mai and her mother

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles

- Repeat the step a few times

- Some Ss role play and the others comment

- Ask Ss to role play

- Ask Ss to role play before the class

- Explain the meaning of the language practised

- Would you like some noodles?

+ Yes, please

2 Point and say

- Ask Sts to look at the pictures given

- Play CD for sts listen and repeat all the names of food and drink given

- Read the words and have pupils read in chorus, individuals

- Explain the pattern:

- Would you like some noodles?

+ Yes, please

- Ask pupils about what they get information to say

- Tell them that they are going to offer and give answer

- Have pupils to ask and answer using the model sentences

- Call on all pairs to perform the task at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give respond

- Ask pupils work in pairs to ask and answer the 2 questions given

- Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary

- Call on some sts to perform the task at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible

1 Read and complete

1 Listen and number:

- Have pupils look at the pictures a, b, c, d at page 21 of the Student Book

- Get sts the names of food and drink in 4 pictures

- Let them guess order

- Give feedback

- Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and

number the jobs and places they hear to the pictures

- Play the recording twice for pupils to listen and number

- Check their guess Compare the answer with the partner

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers

- T gives the answer:

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text

* Answer: 1.b 2.c 3.a 4 d

2 Look and write:

- Have pupils look at the menu

- Ask pupils to say aloud the food and drink in the menu

- Get sts about the order of the ex

- Have pupils to write their names

- Call on 2 pupils write on the board and other pupils write in their notebooks in individuals

- Have pupils trade their answers in pairs for correction

- Have pupils comment the answer on the board

- Give feedback

LESSON 3 (1 - 3)

A AIMS

- Ss will be able to master how to pronoun the sound /f/ and /sh/; practice the

sounds in words and sentences

- Ss will be able to chant together

- Develop Ss listening, speaking and chanting skills

* Language focus:

- Vocabulary: revision

B TEACHING AIDS

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

C PROCEDURE

I WARM-UP

Writing

- Have sts come to the board and write the word with /f/ and /sh/ letters

II NEW LESSON

1 Listen and repeat

- Have pupils look at the poster with the content of part 1 (sts’ book – Page 22)

- Tell them they are going to learn how to pronoun the sound /f/ and /sh/ with different words.

- Produce the sound /f/ in beef, leaf, sound /sh/ in fish and dish a few times.

Ask pupils to say what they think about when they hear the sound

- Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation

- Give the notes how to pronoun /f/ and /sh/ in different words

2 Listen and tick Then write and say aloud

- Have pupils look and read the uncompleted sentences given.

- Tell the pupils that they are going to listen to 4 sentences and tick the words they hear to fill in the gaps

- Play the recording twice for pupils listen and repeat

- Compare the answers with the partner

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers T gives the answer:

- Have pupils practice reading the whole sentences

3 Let’s chant: Would you like some fish?

- Put the piece of paper with the chant from Page 22 written on it on the board

- Tell pupils that they are going to chant

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen as they read Clap the syllables

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables

- Call on some pupils to perform the chant at the front of the class The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible

- Tell pupils that they are going to read the passage about Linda’s and her brother’s favourite food and drink to get the information

- T reads – sts repeat

- Pupils read the passage individually

- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary

- Ask sts get information from the passage to complete the table

- Sts do the task in pairs

- Get sts’ answer

- Give feedback
