Work arrangements: Individuals, pairs, groups, T-WC

Anticipated problems: Listening text is long, students may be confused at the time of the

appointment and the time of the phone call

Questions:

Do you have a telephone at home?

What’s your phone number?

How do you start your conversation on the

phone?

How often do you make a call?

Why do you make these calls?/ What’s for?

To invite friends to see a movie

To invite him/her to play chess etc

Reordering the dialogue

Set the scene: Here is the conversation on

the phone between Adam and Eric.

Read these sentences and put them in the

correct order to make a complete

conversation

Students work in groups of four

Teacher gets feedback by asking some pairs

to practice the conversation aloud

Comprehension questions:

Who made the call?

Who introduced himself?

Who invited the other to a pop concert?

How did he say? Etc

 While speaking

Set the scene: Ba and Bao are making

arrangements to play chess Complete the

dialogue

Ask students to practice the dialogue in

pairs aloud

Think of other situations to make similar

dialogues
