Unit 1 : My friends (6 lesons)

Lesson 1 : Getting started + Listen & read

I, Aims :

Reading the dialogue for details and revision of favorite activities and and simple tenses

II, Objectives : By the end of the lesson , students will be able to know more about Hoa – Lan – Nien and to review simple presnt and simple past tense

III, Teaching aids :

- Text books

- Pictures and tape

IV, Procedure :

1, Warm up:

- Ask ss to look at 4 pictures and takl about the activities they want to do after school or in their free time

- Give some questions : +, What are these students doing ?

+, What time of the day do you think it is ? +, Do you like soccer / reading books ?

+Whom do you like playing with ?

2, Presentation :

Pre – teach : seem ( v) ( translation )

look like (v) ‘ ‘

a next door neighbor ( explanation :a person who lives next to your house )

- Set the scene by asking ss some questions about Hoa :

+ Do you remember Hoa ? + Where’s she from ? + Who does she live with now ? -Have ss look at the picture in books and say :’’ This is Hoa, and that’s Nien – her friend Now Hoa’s in Ha noi but Nien is in Hue Now listen to the dialogue between Hoa and Lan They are talking about Nien

- Get ss to listen to the dialogue and repeat

+ She wasn’t old enough to be in my class

Structure

3,Practice :

- Get ss to discuss and answer the questions in pairs :

a, Nien lives in Hue

b, No, she doesn’t

c, The sentence is ‘’ She wasn’t old in my class

Exercise 1 : Repetition Drill using word give (for weak ss)

Eg : Teacher say and write :” You are not old enough to drive a motorbike”

- Ask ss to write a paragraph about Hoa and Lan Give some cues :

1, Warm up :

Brainstorming : Ask ss to think of adj used to describe body build and hair

2, Presentation :

Pre – spesking

- Show ss a picture of Mary and ask them to describe her hair and her body build

Example: She has long blond hair

- Word cue drill : Prepare 6 cards so that ss can drill easily

- Let ss work in pairs : one point to a person in pictures and ask ; other answers: Example : - Who are you describing ?

- By the end of the lesson , ss’ll be able to know more about Ba’s friends

1, Warm – up:

Get ss to tell about some their friends

Example: I have many friends

2, Presentation :

Pre- reading

Pre- teach: - a character : tinh cách

- an orphange ( a place where children without parents live )

-reserved ( a ) = shy

- sociable ( a ) : gần gũi ,dễ hoà đồng

- to tell joke (v)= tell a story which make people laugh)

-Set the scene : The statements are about Ba and his friends , read them and guess which statements are true or false :

2, Pre-writing

Get ss to read the information about Tam and the paragraph about Tam in “Write 1-page15” then answer the folowing comprehension questions:

a, What’s his name? His name is Le Van Tam

b, How old is he? He is 14 years old

c, What does he look like? He’s tall,thin with short black hair

d, What is he like? He’s sociable,humorous

e, Where does he live? He lives at 26 Tran Phu street

f, Who does he live with? He lives with mother,father,elder brother-Hung

g, Who are his friends? They are Ba and Bao

3, While-writing

-Ss work in pairs to answer the questions about their close friend and take notes of the answers

-Let ss write a paragraph about their partner’s close friend using the information they have just got
