LESSON 3: B1, 2

I OBJECTIVES:By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to compare things:

+Compare about buildings, works and people

+ Compare about population of cities

II PREPARATIONS: Textbook, pictures, cassette

III PROCEDURES:

1 Warm - up: (5’)

- Ask Ss to play game “Matching”

- Lead to the lesson

2 Presentation: (15’)

- Introduce new words

I New words:

+ a million : triệu

+ a population: dân số

- Ask Ss to practice the new words

- Check vocabulary: R.O.R

- Show students the pictures in B1 on page 158, ask

them to observe and tell about each thing

- Write the words on the board and ask them to

repeat

+ a big building

+ a bigger building.

- Look at the board

- Work in individual

- Come up to the board then match

- Check

- listen to the teacher

- Repeat after the teacher

II Structures:

1 Comparative:

- Form: S + be + adj-er + than + S

- Usage : Dùng so sánh hai sự vật

Ex: Lan is taller than Hoa.

2 Superlative:

- Form: S + be +the + adj-est

- Usage: so sánh hơn nhất

Ex: This building is the tallest.

+ In the superlative form, the definite article THE

is written before the adjective.

3 Practice: (12’)

- Set the sense: You are going to read about some big

cities Can you guess which the biggest city in the

world is? Put the cities in order: biggest first

- Get students to read the text and check

4 Production: (10’)

- Ask Ss to play game “Lucky numbers”
