Lesson 3

I Aims:

1 KnowledgeBy the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

● Read and say the three Hh words correctly

● Recognize and say a new Hh word correctly

Vocabulary : hat, hen, hippo

Sight words: a, happy, my

2 Skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing

3.Attitude: Recognize and pronounce the letter H and its sound

(Requirements: students with disability can see and practise )

●Divide the class into groups of two.

Game (10mins)

●Divide the class into two teams 1 and 2

●Hide the phonics cards around the

classroom

●Write the following for each team:

1: hat, hippo

2: hen, horse

●The students in each team have to ‘hunt’

for the phonics cards of their team

●Play the song (Track 51) from lesson 2

The first team to find all its words before

the end of the song is the winner

Colour the pictures of the words that start the H sound

Activity: Hunt The Cards Game (10mins)

V.Consolidation: 2ms

- In this lesson, pupils have learnt: recognize and say the Hh word

Activity: Revision of letter Hh, its

sound(4mins)

Speaking

Write on the board the big H and small h

Point to the letter H and say out loud

“This is the letter H /eɪtʃ/ and the letter H

says /h/ Point to the letter H and say out

loud “This is the letter H /eɪtʃ/ The letter

H says /h/”

Have the class repeat its sound chorally,

then individually

Have the students say the sound

individually, correct the pronunciation if

necessary

Activity: How to write letter H (4mins)

Writing& Speaking

Demonstrate how to write the big H by

strokes

Draw an example of letter H using dashed

lines

Use a different colored chalk to model

tracing the letter H

Have some students practice tracing letter

H on the board

Have students trace letter H in the books

Students say /eɪtʃ/ after each finished

letter

Go around to give help if necessary

Repeat the same procedure with the

lower letter h

Requirements: students with disability can

see and practise

and garden, the students look and read the

words

Ask the students to point out the first letter

corresponding with each word (e, f, g)

Remind students how to write these letters

Ask the students to trace the letter in their

book

Ask student to match the big and small

letter with the correct picture

look at the picture and read aloud, find the

first sound of the word

student read gradually each picture and the

first sound of each

Choose the picture of the words that start

with the same sound with the first picture
