Lesson 3

I Objectives:

1 Knowledge: After the lesson, Ss will be able to review the sound of the letter b, four b words and recognize the corresponding pictures, write the letter b

2 Skills: listening, speaking, writing

3 Attitude: Ss like studying English

II Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card

SS: Ss’ book, activity book

III Method: MAT, TPA.

IV/ Procedure:

1.Organization: (1’)

-Greeting

-Check absent students

1 Warm up (5’)

Play the song from Lesson 2 (Track 06), ask students to sing along and do

corresponding actions

2 New lesson

Activity 1: Thumbs Up or Down (5 mins)

- Ask the students to close their books.

- Hold up the phonics cards one at a time.

- Ask the students to verify the word the teacher says

by putting their thumbs up or down

Activity 2 (7’)

- Ask Ss to take out their colour pencils/ crayons.

- Name some colours and ask the students to repeat.

- Ss: name the picture

- Use the structure: “I like…” and ask the students

hold up the colour pencils/ crayons they like

- Show the picture in the book to the whole class.

- Point to the orange and say: an orange.

6 Say and colour the B word

- Have the students say the word and colour it.

- Ss: colour the pictures

- Give the students 2 minutes to circle the pictures

that have bB in them

- Ss circle the pictures

- Go around the classroom asking the students to say

the o words they are colouring

Activity 3 (8’) (Track 13)

- Show the Ss the omelette phonics card Point to it

and say: // - omelette Ask them to repeat.

- Ss: read in chorus

- Mime cracking and beating eggs and say: // -

omelette Encourage the Ss to do the same

- Point to the pictures, Ss do corresponding actions

and say the words

- Ss: so the action

Activity 4: (10’) Craftwork

- Ask Ss to take out their notebook then ask them to

choose one word the draw the letter and the picture

in their notebooks

- Ss write on their notebook

- Tell them to colour the letter and the picture.

- Ss colour the letter and picture

- The Ss who finish will show their picture to the

class

7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the B sound Say the o words

- Call Ss to retell what they’ve learn

- Practice at home

I.Revision & Practice

Activity Book P 4 (8 mins)

Activity 1 (3’): Revision of letter B, its sound

Speaking

- Write on the board the big B and small o

- Point to the letter B and say out loud

- Ss repeat its sound chorally, then individually

- Have the students say the sound individually, correct

the pronunciation if necessary

Activity (5’) How to write letter B Writing &

Speaking

- Demonstrate how to write the big B by stroke

- Ss look at the board

- Draw an example of letter B using dashed lines

- Use a different colored chalk to model tracing the

letter B

- Have some students practice tracing letter B on the

board

- Ss practice in the air

- Have students trace letter B in the books

- Ss say /B/ after each finished letter

II.Writing & Reading

Activity Book p 4 Tracing & Matching (5’)

- Put the phonics card (ball , bed) on the board

- Copy the box from question 1 and 2 in the book to

the board

- Demonstrate tracing the line of letter b, b and letter

b,b using dashed lines

- Ask the students which one goes with letter b.

- Match letter o with the correct phonic card (olive)

and small letter b

- Do the same with letter b.

- Have the students do the same procedure in their

book

- Go around and give help as needed

III Writing & Reading(p.5- Activity book) (6’)

- Copy the box from the book to the board

- Tell Ss that you are going to write the letter Bb into

the

- Demonstrate the writing

- Ask Ss to write the letter Bb in the box in their book

and tick the correct picture that corresponds to the

letter

IV.

Reading (Page 5 – Activity Book) ) (8 ’ )

- Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/

crayons

- Name some colours and ask the students to repeat.

- Ss name and repeat

- Use the structure: “I like…” and ask Ss hold up the

colour pencils/ crayons they like

- Ss colour

- Show the picture in the book to the whole class.

Point to the octopus and say: an octopus
