I.Objective :

- By the end of the lesson , students will be able to practise the sound of the letter Aa and the coresponding words

- Learn an extra A word

Vocabulary: ant ,apple,alligator,acrobat

2 Skill: listening, speaking ,reading

3.Attitude: Teach Ps to newwords

1 Teacher: - Book, CD, phonics cards, paper, pictures

Activity: How to write letter A

Writing & Speaking

Demonstrate how to write the big A by

stroke

Draw an example of letter A using dashed

lines

Have some students practice tracing letter A

on the board

Have students trace letter A in the books

Writing & Reading

Copy the box from the book to the board

Tell the students that you are going to write

the letter Aa into the box

Demonstrate the writing

Put phonics cards of a apple and a mouse on

the board

Draw 2 small square boxes next to them on

the board

Ask the students which one goes with letter

Aa and then tick the correct box

Ask the students to write the letter Aa in

the boxes in their book and tick the correct

picture that corresponds to the letter

Answer keys: 1 apple, ant

Activity 1: Revision of words starting

with letter Aa – Thumbs Up or Down

Speaking & Listening

Ask the students to close their books

Hold up the phonics cards one at a time

Ask the students to verify the word the

teacher says by putting their thumbs up or

down

Put the phonics card (net) on the board

Copy the dashed line from question 1 in the

book to the board

Demonstrate tracing the line to connect the

net and the word et

Ask the students for the missing letter and

write it in the gap

Have the students do the same procedure in

their book

Go around and give help as needed

Answer keys:

Circle the pictures of the words that begin

Activity 1:

Put the phonics cards up on the board

Point to the mouse and say:

Ask the students which one begins with the n

sound

Have the students circle the nose that has Aa

in it and say:

Give the students 2 minutes to circle the

pictures that have Aa in them

Go around the classroom asking the students

to say the n sound they circle

Activity 2: Sound and Word Game 5’

Divide the class into two teams, team A and

team B

Put one of the phonics cards (e.g: nest) on

the board

Ask a student from Team A to identify the

sound (one point), the picture (one point) or

both (two points)

4.Circle the pictures of the words that begin with the a sound.

Continue with a student from Team B.

Write the points for each team on the board

Give feedback
