Date of preparing : 2.12.2016

Unit 6: Lesson 2: Ss

I Objective :

- By the end of the lesson , students will be able to practise the sound of the letter Ss and

the coresponding words

- To learn and practise reading skills and sing a song

- Skill: listening, speaking ,reading , writing

II Language focus:

Vocabulary: sun, star, snake

Sight words: look, at, the, and, are, in, today

III Resources:

- Student’s book, CD, phonics cards ,card stock paper

IV.Organization:

2B Monday, December 5th 2016

2C Wednesday, December 7th 2016

V Procedures:

A Warm up : 5’

- Ask ss to name the letter and say the sound

of letter

- Put up the card on board T calls the letter

and ask Ss to mine the action and say the

sound

B Presentation:

1 Listen Read along: 10’

- Ask ss to point letter /s/ in the word sun and

point to the picture of sun Do the same with

star and snake

- Ask ss to listen the story and point to the

picture of key words when they hear them in

the story

- Ss work in pairs ,one read and one check

- Correct their mistakes

- Ask ss point to the sight word.Ss listen and

repeat and read aloud

2.Song :10’

- Put up the sun,star,snake phonics card on

- Listen and repeat

- Group work

- Individually

- Point to sight word

- Repeat

- Point and say for sun

- Ask ss to point the sun and say The star is in

the sun.

- Do the same with the rest of the song

- Play the CD and ask Ss to listen and sing

- Ask ss to take out the sun,star,snake picture

cards and put them on the desk

- Play the CD and ask Ss listen and hold up the

corresponding card

3 Pactise:

*Activity : Write the words 7’

- Ss write the words they’ve learnt in the

lesson

- Calls some Ss go to the board and write

down

- T monitors and correct their mistakes

C.Consolidation:1’

- T asks whole class to sing the song at home

D Homelink :1’

Do the excersice

- Listen and repeat

- Remember the cards

- Close the eyes and take away a card

- Say the card missing

- Skill: listening, speaking ,reading , writing

Vocabulary: sun, star, snake, seal

III Resources:

- Student’s book, CD, phonics cards ,card stock paper

A Warm up : 5’

- T hold up the phonics cards of the sun, snake,

star and say the word.

- Ask Ss listen and sing the song

B Presentation:

1 Colour the stars that have Ssin them.8’

- Point to the stars and the letters and revise the

sound

- Explain the activity

- Ask Ss to colour

2.Listen ,point and repeat.Colour the pictures

of the words that start with S sound Say the

S words.10’

- Put up the seal phonics card on board

- Point to it and say /s/ seal

- Clap your hands together while making a high

pitch bark and say: /s/ - seal Encourage the

students to do the same

- Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/

crayons

- Point to the pictures, the students do

corresponding actions and say the words

- Give the students 2 minutes to colour in the

pictures of the words that begin with the /s/

sound

- Go around the classroom providing any

necessary help

3 Pactise: 10’

*Activity: Pass the Phonics Card Game

- Line up the students into two teams

- Give the first student of each team a phonics

card

- Say: Go! The students say the corresponding

words and pass the phonics card over their heads

to the student behind them

- The students continue to pass the phonics card

over their heads

- The last student in each line races to hand their

phonics card to the teacher and says the word

- The first team to do so wins a point

Continue the game as many times as you think

necessary

C.Consolidation:1’

- Repeat

- Do individually
