LESSON 1

1.Look, listen and repeat.

2 Point and say

Objectives: At the end of the period, pupils will be able to: ask and answer

questions about where someone is from

Language

focus:

Sentence pattems: Where are you from?

Vocabulary :England, English, America, American, Australia, Australian, Vietnam, Vietnamese, Malaysia, Japan, Japanese

Resources: Student’s book, recording, pupets, fresh cards,…

PROCEDURE

1.Warm up: Ss sing the chant on page 11

2.Look, listen

and repeat

Ask Ss to open their book on page 12 and look at the picture

Tell Ss that the girls in the picture are Nam and Akiko

Ask the questions: Who, Where, What time…

Tell Ss that they are going to look at the dialogue, listen to the recording and repeat the dialogue between Nam and Akiko

Play the recording through for Ss to listen to the dialogue

Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat

Divide the class into 2 groups Ask G1 to repeat Nam’s part and G2 the Akiko’s part

PROCEDURE

1.Listen and tick - Ask Ss to look at picture a, b, c and d on

page 13.help them to identify the name of the country in each picture ( 1a the flag of Britain 1b The flag of Australia 1C The flag of Malaysia, Clock Tower Big Ben in England, The statue of Liberty in America The Opera House in Australia, Vietnamese girl, Japanese girl, an English girl

- Ask pupils to role play tell them that A and B are from two foreign countries.They meet each other in Viet Nam when they are

on a holiday

- Demonstrate how to do the activity with a pupil

- Call on a group of four to the front of the class and do the actions The others clap their hands after the song

PROCEDURE

Warm up: Ask pupils to show the pictures they have

drawn in lesson 1 and say where the pupils in the pictures are from

- Ask Ss to open the book on page 14 tell them that they are going to listen to

- Have Ss to look at the book at page 14

- Elicit the character and have Ss guess what they are saying

Set the scene: we are going to learn new phrases

- Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles

Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles two times

- Divide the class into two groups One repeat teacher’s part and the other repeat Akiko’s
