Lesson 1: 4-5-6

I AIMS

By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able to listen and tick the correct pictures; read and complete

1 Knowledge:

- Sentence patterns: revision

- Vocabulary: revision

2 Skills: speaking, listening and reading

3 Attitude: Ps can read and talk about the weather tomorrow

II TEACHING METHODS:

- Work in pairs , individual, in groups …

IV PROCEDURE:

I Warm up:(5’)

Spend a few minutes revising the story in Activity

1by inviting one or two pupils to act it out in front of

the class

Work in pair of two

II New lesson:(30’)

4 Listen and circle a, b or c :

a Pre-listening:

- T looks at the books and sets the scence:

How many sentences are there?

How many letters are there?

Ask Ps to look at each pictures and guess answer for

questions: What will the weather be like tomorrow?

- Tell Ps that they are going to listen circle

- Have pupils look at the letters to identify the each

place and where

b While-listening:

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to

listen Play it again for them to do the task

Answer T’s questions

Look at pictures and answer the questions

- Tell them that they should pay attention to

- Get them to compare their answers before checking

a Pre- reading:

- Ask Ps to look at the Activity 5 p 53.

- Call a students read the sentences

- Ask Ps to look at words in the box and help them to

identify their meanings

- T asks: How many blanks are there?(5)

- Ask a student to read words in the yellow box

b While- reading:

- Ask Ps to read the sentences and fill the gaps with

weather, watch, forecast, go, stormy

- Remind them to focus on the map to select the

appropriate words from the box

- Get them to compare their answers in pairs before

checking as a class If there is enough time , have the

class read the completed text aloud

- Ask Ps to read the sentences again

Let’s play: (5’)

Making sentences

- Tell the class that they are going to play making

Explain how to play the game: put pupils into groups

of six give each group pictures and letter cards

representing different weather( E.g: H for hot, C for

cold, W for warm, S for sunny)

P 1 in each group selects and orranges two or more

I Warm up:(5’)

- Spend a few minutes having the class play Bingo,

using the weather words learnt in leson1 At the end

of the game, ask pupils to make sentences with these

words before introducing lesson 2

Ps sing the song A group does actions

II New lesson:(30’)

1 Look, listen and repeat (10’)

- Tell the class that they are going to read a story in

which Nam and Peter are talking about the seasons

and weather Elicit answers to these question: Where

are they? What are they talking about? (Nam and

Peter are on the balcony In pictures a and b, Peter

asks Nam about the summer weather in Viet Nam and

Nam says it’s uasually hot and it rains a lot

In pictures c, Nam asks what’s summer like in your

country, Peter? And Peter answers it is cooler than

here But it is very green There are lots of flowers

and plants In picture d, Nam says he’d like to visit

Peter’s country in summer

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to

listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books

- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the

lines in the speech bubbles Repeat the step a few

times

- Practice with ps

- Devide the class into 2 groups Asks practice in

pairs

- Go round and check ps can repeat and understand

the dialogue

2 Point and say: (14’)

a Vocabulary : spring, summer, autumn, winter, cold,

wind, hot, flowers, cool, rain, very cold, snow

- Have Ps look at the pictures Teach them how to

read the words and phrases under each picture:

to do choral repetition line by line Then have them

practise in groups: one sings the questions and the

other sings the answers

- Invite two groups of four pupils to go to the front to

sing and do actions and the class to clap their hands

along to the rhythm

- Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying

sentences with falling intonation Explain that a

negative command or a wh-question is pronounced

with falling tone

Then put the sentences on the board, play the

recording and ask Ps to repeat a few more times

Play the recording a few more times and let Ps say the

sentences , paying attention to sentences with falling

intonation

stress until Ps feel confident

- Get some Ps to perform in front of the class Check

as a class and correct the pronunciation, if necessary
