What do you have to do to help your parents at home?

The chores you often do at home:

- look after younger brother/ sister

- wash the clothes/ dishes

- cook meals

- sweep the floor

Look at the picture in 30 seconds

Write down the things that do not belong to the past

Work individually, share and compare

Teacher gets feedback:

Did there use to be a stereo?

No, there didn’t

Set the scene: Look at the picture This is Nga and her

grandmother She is telling Nga about her past events

Now listen and find out the things that Nga’s

grandmother and her great grandparents had to do

Listen to the dialogue twice

Get students’ answers

Ask students to open their books, listen and repeat the

dialogue in chorus

Students practice the dialogue with a partner

Model sentences:

I used to live on a farm when I was a young girl

I used to look after my younger brothers and sisters

Concept check: meaning,

Form: S + used to + bare infinitive
