A Teaching aims: - After finishing the lesson, Ss will be able to make and respond to

introduce pen pal and listen for specific information

1 Vocabulary: - industrial (adj); church (n)

2 Grammar: - the simple past (review)

C Teaching aids: - Pictures, poster, text book

1 Settlements

2 Old lesson: * T checks two Ss:

1) Write the new words on the board

2) I used (walk) _to school when I was in primary school

* Answer: to walk

3 New lesson:

teacher’s-students’ activities contents on the blackboard

Warm up:

- T asks Ss play the game “introduce myself”

Pre- speaking:

- T asks Ss to look at the pictures part speak and

introduce the situation (using picture)

- T asks Ss to arrange the dialogue (pair work)

- Ss put the sentences in the correct order to

make a complete dialogue

- T asks Ss to practice speaking in the dialogue

While- speaking:

S practice reading the dialog in pairs

Checking S’ comprehension

-T asks ss answer the questions about the

dialogue

1 Introduce yourself

Name, age, hobbies, family, friends…

Example:

My name’s Hoa I’m 14 years old I live

in Quang Binh province I love the beach.

I often go swimming and sunbathing on the beach with my family There are four people in my family I like reading book and watching TV in my free time My best friends are …

What can you imagine they will say to each other?

Nga is talking to Maryam They are waiting for Lan outside her school Put the dialogue in the correct order to make a complete dialogue

Apply to make new dialogs based on the cues

Post- speaking:

Write a passage about one of the persons above

Pre- listening:

Introducing the situation:

Task 1: prediction

S look at the pictures and tell what there is in

each one,

while-listening:

S listen to the tape to check their guess (groups)

T gives feedback:

Students listen again

Homework:

Ask ss to write the dialogue in their notebook

and learn by heart

Now you use the information in the book and make similar dialogue introduction yourself to Maryam’s friends

2 Old lesson: * T checks two Ss: Change into passive voice.

1 She buys a lot of sweets for her daughter

2 They send her the presents

3 They saw him yesterday (Học sinh giỏi)

4 I have bought that bike for 5 years (Học sinh giỏi)

* Answer

1 A lot of sweets are bought for her daughter

2 She is sent the presents

3 He was seen yesterday

4 That bike has been bought for 5 years

Warm up:

- T hangs the world map on the board and

explains the game

- T gives some information

- Ss guess what that country is

- Then T asks Ss to look at the picture

“PETRONAS Twin Towers” and asks questions

about Malaysia’s country

1 Where is it?

2 What’s the capital of Malaysia?

3 What’s its population?

4 What language is spoken in this country?

- Ss answer the T’s questions

Pre - Reading:

*Set the scene:

-T introduces the lesson: Today, We’ll learn more

about Malaysia a member country of ASEAN

Before reading the text, you work in groups and

complete the table

Pre Teach Vocabulary

- T introduces the words by explaining the meaning,

using the situation or the picture

- T reads the words for the modal (3 times)

- T asks Ss to repeat chorally then individually

- T says “before reading the text, you work in

group and complete the table with information

you already know about Malaysia if you don’t

a guess Now, close your books.”

While-Reading

1 Checking:

- T corrects

- Asks Ss to read the text & check their prediction

- Ss read the text individuall and do

- Ss read the text again, then fill in the table

- Ss give the keys on the board

2 True /False Statements

- Now you read the text again and decide

whether the statements are True/ false

- Ss work in group, then compare the keys with

answer

- T corrects Ss take note

Post - Reading:

Matching:

- T gives exercise on the board and asks Ss Matching

the name of the capitals with

appropriate countries

- Ss do exercise with group

Homework:

- Learn new words and some information

about Malaysia by heart

- Do exercise 5 pages 8 –9 in ex Book

- Prepare Unit 1 Lesson 4 : WRTIE

* Summary a short paragraph about Maryam
