A AIMS

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know the content of the books, and know how

to study English with “Tiếng Anh 6” books

B Preparations: “Tiếng Anh 6” Books.

C Procedure:

- T asks Ss to scan their books Then the teacher introduces these books

1 The components of the textbook:

The complete learning set of Tiếng Anh 6 consists of the student’s book, the workbook and the CD

a THE STUDENT’S BOOK

The student’s book contains:

+ The book map

+ 12 topic-based Units, each covering 8 sections to be learned in seven 45 – minute lessons.+ 4 Reviews, each providing revision and further practice of the previous three units

+ Glossary: giving meaning and phonetic transcription of the new words in the units

b THE WORKBOOK

The workbook mirrors and reinforces the content of the Student’s book It offers:

+ Further practice for the language and skills taught in class, and

+ Four addition tests for student’s self- assessment

c The CD

2 The components of each unit:

- Section 1: Getting started:

It begins with a conversation followed by the activities which introduces the topic of the units It presents the vocabulary and the grammar items to be learned and practiced through the skills andactivities of the unit

- Section 2: A closer look 1

A closer look 1 presents and practices the vocabulary and pronunciation of the unit A grammar item may also be included in this section

- Section 3: A closer look 2

This section idea with the main grammar point(s) of the unit There are clear explicit grammar tables and exercises The “Remember” boxes appear wherever necessary and help Ss to avoid common errors

- Section 4: culture & communication

This section help Ss use the functional language in everyday life contexts and consolidate what they have learned in the previous sections It also gives Ss opportunities to learn and apply the cultural aspects of the language learnt to their lives, and provides cultural information about Viet Nam and other countries in the word

- The Project helps Ss to improve their ability to work by themselves and in a team, and extend

their imagination in a field related to the unit subject

3 Methods of learning:

• To be keep on and good at English, each student should:

- Review the previous lesson before going to class This means each student must be sure thatthey have done their exercises; new words are learnt by heart

- Have a look at new lesson to find down what difficulties and what you want to ask the teacher if it is not easy for you to understand

- Join the activities in class (pair / group work) Don’t be sky Ask the teacher or friends something you feel difficult

- Try to speak English with friends, and teacher in class

- Listen to the teacher’s explaining or his / her requests carefully

- Listen to the CD every day to become familiar with the sounds, rhymes and intonation of English

- Be prepared to work in pair or in groups

WEEK 01 UNIT 1: MY NEW SCHOOL

A Aim: listening and reading for specific information about a special day, practicing listening

and speaking with the lexical items related to the topic "My New School"

B Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen and read for specific

information about a special day then practice listening and speaking with the lexical items related

to the topic "My New School"

Content:

- Vocab: School lexical items

- Grammar: The simple present, the present progressive

C Preparation: pictures of school things, posters, a cassette player & text books

D Procedures:

1 Warm up: Chatting

- Teacher asks students some questions about

themselves

- Teacher leads in the lesson

2 Context:

- T shows the picture on P.6 then raises some

questions and encourages Ss to talk about the picture

- Ss work individually to ask or answer the questions

1 How many people are there in the picture?- Four

2 Who are Vy and Duy? - They are Phong's

schoolmates

3 What is he doing? He’s having breakfast

4 What are the children going to do? They are going

to school

- T introduces the context and writes the title of the

lesson on the bb 'A special day' explains the meaning

of 'special' and asks Ss to guess why it is a special day

for them

- Ss guess and say

- T elicits:We are going to listen and read a dialogue

about Phong, Vy and Duy's special day.

- T plays the recording twice

- Ss listen and read then check your answer for the last

question

3 Interaction:

Pronunciation Sounds: /əʊ/ and /ʌ/

- T explains how to use the Sounds: /əʊ/ and /ʌ/

+ The sound of /əʊ/ (as in "O", "oh" and "owe") is a

diphthong, meaning two vowel sounds blended into one

You should be able to see the mouth moving from one

position to the other while making the sound, with the

mouth becoming smaller and rounder You can emphasize

and control this by holding your hand in front of your

mouth and bringing the fingers in towards each other as

you move from the first part of the sound to the last part
