-Ask Ss from each team to go to board to write down the correct words The team which is faster with more correct words win the game.

Set the scene : “ Tim Jones’s Mexican pen

pal, Carols is visiting the USA.”

-Ask Ss to look at the pictures and tell the class what there is in each one, where the place is, what the people are doing.

Open predictions

-Tell Ss that Tim is taking to Carols to visit some places Ask them to think of three things that Tim and Carols are doing.

-Have you ever visited any other places in Vietnam?

-When did you go ? –How did you get there ? -Did you visit any places of interest ?

-Did you buy any thing ? -When you are away from home, do you keep in touch ? How ?

Set the scene: “ Imagine you are visiting your

relatives or friends in another part of Vietnam or a different country.”

-Ask Ss on their own answer the questions:

1.Where are you now ? How did you get there ?

2 Who did you meet ? What have you done ? (What places have you visited? Who have you meet What kind of food / eaten , What souvernis /bought?

3.How do you feel now? What do you think interest you most ? When are you returning home ?

-Ask two Ss to tell the class about their visit.

-Remind Ss about the format of a personal letter by asking the questions (What are the part of a letter ?) -Ask Ss to write a letter to their family, telling them about their visit.

-Get Ss to look at the outline and ask them what part

of the letter they are going to write -Let Ss follow the outline to write their own letter.

-Ask Ss to swap their letters, compare with their partner’s and correct if they can.

*Set the scene: This is the conversation

between Tan and Phong They are talking about what Ba, Lan, Nga, Nam and Hoa did

on the weekend.

Form: VERB + ED / V2 Meaning : da

-Ask Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer questions in exercise 1 on page 11.

-Tell them that the activities happened in definite time in the past.

Eg: A: What did Nga do on her weekend?

B: She went to the concert performed by Hanoi singers.

A: When did she go ? B: She went there on Saturday at 8 p.m
