3 Definitions
For the purposes of this Part of BS AU20 the
definitions g iv en in Part1a a ply , tog ether with the
fol owing
3.1
c ntral power locking system
a faci ity that prov id es for the locking b a sing le
action of al closures to the p s eng er comp rtment
an lug g ag e sp ce other than those which req uire
no specific locking operation to reach a secure mod e
NOT Locking of the eng ine comp rtment an other closures
ma b inclu ed in the system
3.2
im pact sensor
an inertia d ev ice that trig g er the unlocking of the
central power locking sy stem in the ev ent of the
v ehicle sufering an imp ct
4 Performance
4.1 General
4.1.1 Central power locking sy stems shal conform
to BS AU20 -1a, and shal be instaled so that entry
to the p s eng er or lug g ag e comp rtments of the
v ehicle, either directly or v ia the eng ine
comp rtment, can ot be achiev ed b the use of
simple to ls
4.1.2 W hen locking the v ehicle, it shal be pos ible to
operate the central power locking sy stem f om:
a) at least one point within the p s eng er
comp rtment of the v ehicle; and
b) at least one specific external point
4.1.3 It shal be pos ible to u lock the closures fit ed
with external locks ind iv idualy f om outside the
v ehicle
4.1.4 I central power u locking is pos ible f om
outside the v ehicle, the sy stem shal hav e two
d istinct modes of operation:
a) u locking only one of the nominated closures;
and
b) u locking selected and/or al closures
4.1.5 The internal locking an u locking controls for
each do r ( with the chi d-pro f locking feature,
where fit ed, set to be inoperativ e) shal hav e two
d istinct modes of operation:
a) locking / unlocking only one of the nominated
closures; and
b) locking /unlocking selected and/or al closures
NOT Central p wer locking sy stems ma b fi ed wih an
imp ct sensor,in ac ordance wih4.3, such that al do r are
automatcaly u locked in the e ent of an ac ident whilst the
ig ni on is swiched on
4.2 Se urity of conne tions
4.2.1 It shal not be pos ible to release or ena le the
release of the latches of any of the closures and
thereb g ain ac es to any of the areas protected b
the central power locking sy stem b the methods
des ribed in4.2.2
4.2.2 I contact can be mad e with any p rt of the
central locking power or sig nal cir uits f om outsid e
the v ehicle using a probe formed f om wire of
diameter1.5mm, then the p rt that is contacted
shal be tested in ac ord nce with4.2.3
4.2.3 Attach a simple to l v ia the external ac es
point of the probe Manipulate the to l ov er the
range of directions that are pos ible fom the ac es
point whi e a ply ing the rang e of loa s that the to l
can transmit up to an a solute ma imum of3 0N
I any p rt of the cir uits can be broug ht to an
ac es ible position then tests shal be a pl ed in
ac ord ance with Annex A
4.3 Im pact sensor
4.3.1 W here a v ehicle is fit ed with an imp ct
sensor, u locking b the imp ct sensor shal be
inoperativ e when the ig nition is switched of
4.3.2 In the ev ent that the imp ct sensor is
trig g ered when the v ehicle’s ig nition is switched on,
the central power locking sy stem shal u lock and
remain u locked u ti a positiv e ind ependent action
has be n taken to reset the imp ct sensor W here
such action is not achiev ed b the ig nition key or b
operation of the external lock, and when the ig nition
is on or the external lock is being operated, a
positiv e ind ication shal be prov ided on leav ing the
v ehicle u ti the sy stem is reset
Trang 64.4 Resistanc to inertia unlocking
W hen the imp ct sensor, if fit ed, is inoperativ e, it
shal not be pos ible to u lock al or p rt of the
central power locking sy stem b the a plcation of
an inertia load to the v ehicle Conformance shal be
checked in one of the folowing way s:
a) b the method d es ribed in Annex B; or
b) b calculation The man facturer shal
maintain ev idence that the calculation method
used simulates the results obtained b the
method des ribed in Annex B
5 Test conditions
5.1 For the tests specified in Annex A an Annex B,
a complete v ehicle or representativ e portion there f
shal be prov ided for testing tog ether with
instalation drawing s of the sy stem a pl ca le to the
v ehicle
N T Pre-test familiarizaton of the central p wer locking
system b e aminaton of the v hicle is p rmi ed
5.2 Only those p rts of the central power locking
sy stem that hav e not be n tested in ac ord ance with
Annex A and Annex B, including any p rts located
within the eng ine comp rtment, shal be tested
5.3 Before the start of the tests al external closures
shal be fuly closed and latched, and locked where
locks are prov ided
Trang 7Annex A (norma tive)
Power system tests
A.1 General
Power sy stems shal be tested in ac ord nce
withA.2 orA.3 as a propriate
NOT The sy stem ma b isolated so as to protect non-securiy
systems not u der test
A.2 Ele trical y powered system s
Car y out the folowing tests Each connection shal
be mad e for a d uration of2s, replacing fuses as
neces ary before proce ding further:
a) con ect each of the wires/ con ections to an
earth on the v ehicle;
b) con ect in turn each wire/ con ection to the
other , cov ering al pos ible combinations;
c) a ply the normal sup ly v oltag e to each of the
wires/con ections
A.3 Systems powered other than by ele trical
m eans
Apply consecutiv ely to the sy stem’s entry and
exhaust ports, and al other points ac es ible in
ac ord nce with4.2, an external
pneumatic/hy d raul c sour e of up to fiv e times the
normal operating pres ure, in both a positiv e sense
and, as far as it is pos ible, a neg ativ e sense
For a normal operating pres ure, p, cond uct the
tests in ac ord ance with the sequence of Ta le A.1
Ta le A.1 — Test sequenc
Annex B (normative)
Inertia loa d test
Apply an ac eleration of g
n for at least3 ms
to a test v ehicle or simulating structure
incorporating a representativ e total locking sy stem
instal ation as fol ows:
a) in the forward and b ckward horiz ntal
directions p ralel to the long itudinal a is of the
v ehicle;
b) in the inward and outward horiz ntal
directions perpendicular to the long itudinal a is
of the v ehicle;
c) in the upward and d ownward v ertical
directions
The imp ct sensor, if fit ed, shal be inoperativ e
