fol owing d efinitions a ply
3.1
lock
a dev ice, that prev ents the release of a latch and
that can only be activ ated b the use of:
a) a specifical y coded key ; and / or
b) a lnkag e betwe n the latch mechanisms and
controls situated within the v ehicle
3.2
key
a dev ice specificaly cod ed to match a specific lock
3.3
sim ple to l
a dev ice that is of low-cost, easi y concealed and is
equipment or a fa rication that is rea i y av aia le
to the publ c at larg e and the use of which wi not
at ract u d ue at ention
3.4
latch
a mechanism employ ed to retain a do r or
comp rtment cov er in a closed condition with
prov ision for controled release ( or operation)
3.5
f e whe l
the a i ity of a but on or hand le to mov e without
releasing the latch
3.6
closure

d esig ned to mov e to ena le, or prev ent, ac es
throug h that a erture
3.7
internal locking and unlocking control
a dev ice located within the v ehicle that controls the
locking mechanism but do s not req uire the entry of
a specific code
4 Locks opera ted by mecha nica l keys
4.1 A lock intended to be u locked f om outside the
v ehicle, using its own specifical y coded key , shal
conform to Annex A
4.1.1 The lock and its key shal , after being tested in
ac ord nce with A.2, remain an efectiv e specific
combination
4.1.2 After completion of the test in A.2, further
manipulation of a minimum d iference key for1 min
shal not u lock the as embly
4.2 Key s shal not be permanently marked with
their coded id entification except on the tag s

5.1 General
Dig italy controled locks and remote control
sy stems shal conform to5.2 and5.3 respectiv ely
5.2 Dig italy controled locks
5.2.1 Dig ital y control ed locks shal be prov id ed
with at least2 0 0 diferent combinations in any
one series
5.2.2 A faci ty to recod e dig ital y control ed locks
shal be prov ided but it shal be neces ary to enter
the existing cod e before recod ing can be
ac omplshed After recoding , the prev ious cod e

5.3.4 Inter uption of power sup les shal not
chang e the prev ious code
6 Latches, l nkag es and other closur
mechanisms
6.1 General
6.1.1 Tests shal be car ied out on a complete v ehicle
or representativ e portion there f taken as a rand om
sample
6.1.2 The closures shal be fuly closed, latched an
locked, and any wind ow shal be in the fuly closed
position with minimum “ backlash” left in the
sy stem, immediately preceding each test All
external trim that can be easi y remov ed b a simple
to l shal be remov ed
6.1.3 For al the tests in6.2 the internal closure
trim ma be remov ed, either completely or p rtialy ,
prov ided that b d oing so the streng th of the
lnkag es is not weakened and that the probe or
simple to l is not permit ed to p s into/throug h
areas that would otherwise be restricted b the
internal trim if it were present
NOT Remo al of the internal trim is to neg ate the ne d for the
tester to b familiar wih the latch o eratng mechanism when
forming the pro e or simple to l
6.2 Pas eng er or lug g ag e com partm ent closure
m echanism
6.2.1 It shal not be pos ible to release or ena le the
release of the latches of any of the closures an
thereb g ain ac es to the p s eng er or lug g ag e
comp rtment b the methods des ribed in6.2.2,
without permanently d istorting the closure or
sur ou d ing bod y a erture
6.2.2 I contact can be ma e with any p rt of the
latch as embly , latch l n ag e, locking d ev ice, or
internal locking and u locking control f om outside
the v ehicle using a probe formed f om wire of
d iameter1.5mm, then6.2.2.1 shal a ply to that
p rt which is contacted
6.2.2.1 Attach a simple to l v ia the external ac es
point of the probe and then replace the trim
Manipulate the to l ov er the rang e of d irections that
are pos ible fom the ac es point whi e a ply ing the
rang e of loa s that the to l can transmit up to an
a solute ma imum of3 0N I no simple to l can be
at ached then that p rt of the ln ag e is consid ered
to hav e satis ied the requirements of6.2.1
NOT In the case where a larg er p ton of lin ag e can b
contacted b the pro e in6.2.2, the tester ma restrict testng to
the mid-p int an e ch en of that p rton
6.3 Opening windows
A wind ow shal not mov e more than7mm in the
direction of opening when a load of6 0 N ±10 N is
a pled within20mm of the plane of the window
and in the direction of opening of that window
7 Electrica lly operated or r leased
W hen tested in ac ord nce with Annex B,
electricaly operated or released closures shal not
permit ac es being g ained to the p s eng er or
lug g ag e comp rtment of the v ehicle
8 Exterior controls
Exterior push but ons or handles shal either
f e whe l when in the locked state or be so
constructed that, when in the locked state an
suficient for e is a pled so as to prod uce the ful
operating mov ement of the release but on or handle,
such mov ement shal not efect entry into the
v ehicle
9 Instal a tion
Locking sy stems shal be fit ed to the do r to the
interior of the v ehicle and to the lug g ag e
comp rtment so that the v ehicle is ca a le of being
secured ag ainst u authoriz d entry
NOT Attenton should b g iv n to the instalaton of retenton
comp nents ( hing es an slide mechanisms) of do r an lids
g iving c es to the interior of the v ehicle to ensure that the are
mou ted such that the can ot, wihout damag e, b dismantled
or remo ed to g ain aces to the v hicle fom the e terior
