UNIT 7: MY NEIGHBORHOOD

Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED + LISTEN & READ

I OBJECTIVES:

Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about the places in their

neighborhood, understand how to use the Present perfect tense with “Since & for”

II PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette tape

III PROCEDURES:

*Checking attendance (1’): - 8A1:………

1 Warm – Up: (5’)

- Device class into two groups

- Show the pictures Then ask Ss to match the names of

places found in a in neighborhood with the correct pictures

- Lead the new lesson ask Ss answer the question

1 Who are they?

2 Who is the newcomer?

3 Is there a restaurant in the neighborhood?

- Nam and Na are talking about the place where they live But

Na is new there

2 Presentation: (10’

- Introduce vocabulary:

- Ask Ss look at the screen and guess the meaning of new

words

I Vocabulary:

3 tasty (adj): = delicious

5 Close by (phrv):

6 neighborhood(n):

- Check the new words: “Rub out and remember”

II Listen and Read.

- Ask Ss to listen to the dialogue one more time

- Explain the structure: Present Perfect tense

Ex: 1 We have lived here for about 10 years.

* For + a period of time ( khoảng thời gian)

* Since + a point of time (mốc thời gian)

* Form: S + HAVE / HAS + V P.P + since/ for

* Usage: To describe an action that began in the past and still

is progress at present time

3 Practice: (15’)

- Ask Ss to practice the dialogue in pairs

- Have Ss do the exercise 2 on the page 64 Complete the

sentences

- Call some Ss to give feedback

- Show the picture and ask:

Where are they?

 At the post office

2 Pre – Speaking: (10’)

- Have students look at the picture and answer the

questions

- Explain vocabulary:

- Ask Ss to practice the dialogue in pairs

- Ask Ss to read carefully the brochure and the

information in the box, make similar dialogues in pairs

- Have Ss only choose one of the items from the surface
