1 Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Read the passage about the media to understand the details

- Talk about their favorite activities in their free time and some benefits of some media

Practice and improve all skills

Enjoy studying English

2 Preparation:

a Teacher: Textbook; Teaching plan; pictures; ex - board.

b Students: Textbook; notebook; school things; do homework; prepare well for new

lesson

3 Procedures

*Organization

T: greet and check the attendance.

Sts: reply.

a Check the old lesson (2’)

T: check Sts' preparation for the lesson.

Sts: get ready.

*Warm up (7’)

* Brainstorming:

T: ask Sts to talk about their favorite activities in their free time.

Free time activities.

Sts: work individually to do the task.

T: call on some Sts to give out their ideas in front of the class, give feedback.

Sts: give out the ideas in front of the class.

*Presentation (10’)

T: set the scene: nowadays, there are many kinds of the media They play an

important role in our life They can provide us with news, entertainment and so on

? Do you know anything about the development of the media? Let tell some names of the media that you know?

Sts: listen to the teacher and think of the answer for the question.

T: call on some Sts to give out their ideas in front of the class and elicit some new

words:

- media ['mi:di ə ](n): example: phương tiện truyền thông đại chúng

- crier [ 'krai ə ] (n): picture: người rao bán, người đi rao hang, người rao tin tức trên đường phố (thời xưa)

- channel ['t∫ænl] (n): example: kênh

- interactive [,int ə r'æktiv] (a): translation: tương tác

- interact [,int ə r'ækt] (v) : ảnh hưởng, tương tác

remote [ri'mout] (a): translation: xa xôi

- control [k ə n'troul] (n)(v): real object: kiểm xoát, điều khiển, sự kiểm xoát, sự điều khiển

- benefit ['benifit] (n): translation: lợi ích, phúc lợi

T: introduce you are going to listen and read some passages about some media Let

listen and find out what they are (Play the tape for the students)

- The passages are about newspapers before the invention of printing, one of the most popular magazines in Viet Nam, the television and the interactive TV

-TB) (Hang the ex - board)

Sts: work individually to do the task then compare the answers in pairs.

- Listen to a dialogue between Chau and her father to understand the details and complete the table

- Know about the time when some Medias were invented and became popular

- Be interested in TV programs and the inventions
