I OBJECTIVES:

- By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to get acquainted with “The Media “ and know some new words such as newspapers , magazines , Television , interactive T.V

II PREPARATIONS: Textbook, pictures, cassetles

III PROCEDURES:

1/ Warm up : (7’)

- Hang the pictures on the board and ask Ss to

match the activity with correct picture

- Lead to the lesson: The Media

- Look at the picture, and match

I Getting started:

+ watching TV + reading newspapers + listening to the radio + reading magazine + using the Internet

- Listen

2/ Presentation: (15’)

- Use the pictures, real object to explain the

meaning of them

- Let Ss read the new words in chorus and

individually Then copy down

* Check vocabulary: R.O.R

- Observe, and guess meaning

4 remote control: điều khiển từ xa

3/ Practice: (15’) Unit 5: THE MEDIA

LESSON 1:

Activity 1:

- Ask Ss to listen and read the passage silently

and complete the table individual

- Have some Ss go to the board and complete the

table

Activity 2:

- Ask Ss to read the texts and answer the

questions in groups

- Have some pairs ask and answer before class

and then write on the board

* Key:

1.A town crier was a person whose job was to go

through city streets ringing a bell to shout the

latest news as he was walking

2.The kien thuc ngay nay is one of the most

popular magazines and is widely read by both

teenagers and adults

3.People can get the latest information and enjoy

interesting and inexpensive local and

- Listen and ead the passage

- Go to the board, and correct

- Ask Ss to answer the question:

+ What is your favorite type of media?

- Have Ss take note

- Take note

5/ Homework: (2’)

- Have Ss:

+ Learn by heart new words and “Grammar”

+ Make three sentences with “ like, love, dislike”

- Write assignments

and listen to understand the history of some Medias.

II PREPARATIONS: Textbook, pictures, cassetles

III PROCEDURES:

1/Warm up : (7’)

Chatting

- Ask Ss to answer the questions:

What is your favorite types of Media? Why

- Remark and choose the winner

- Answer the questions

2/Pre-speaking: (18’)

- Present some new words

- Let Ss read the new words in chorus and

individually

I New words:

Violent(n)

documentary (n)

 informative (adj)

newscreel (n)

telegraph (n)

journalism (n)

- Ask Ss to practice the dialogue

Lien : You don’t like sport, do you?

Trung : Yes Some sports are violent I prefer

documentary You like it, don’t you?

Lien : No Documentaries are quite boring I

prefer watching news It’s very ìnormative.

- Introduce the tag- questions

II Structure:

- Ask Ss to look at the table and make similar

dialogues to talk about the programs you like and

dislike

prefer watching news It’s very informative.

- Call on some pairs to practice in front of class

- Correct mistakes if any

- Work in pairs, use the cues to make similar dialogue

2 football / long / children’s corner / noisy / music / interesting

- Practice in front of class

4/Post-speaking: (10’)

- Ask Ss to guess the information, then turn on

the tape ( 2 or 3 times )

- Ask them to exchange their results to compare

- Call on four Ss to write their results on the

board

- Turn on the tape again and check their answers

- Guess, then listen

- Fill in the table

5/ Homework:

- Have Ss:

+ Learn by heart new words, and structure

+ Do exercise 1/p.45 (textbook)

- Write assignments
