Lesson 3, 4

I Objectives:

1 Knowledge: : - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Recognize and say the three Kk words correctly

- Do the corresponding actions

- Read the story

- Sing letter Kk song

Vocabulary

Kite, kitten, koala, kangaroo

Sight words

Look, at, the, has, a, fly

2 Skills:

- Develop Ss reading, writing and listening skills

3 Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson

Work hard

II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

- Work in pairs , individual, in groups …

IV PROCEDURE:

1 Class organization:

- Greeting: Good morning/ Good afternoon How are you?

- Checking for the students’ attendence:

2 Warm up :5’

- Greet students

- Show the phonics cards, ask students to do corresponding actions then say the sound of the letter and words

E.g Teacher: Show the ‘kite’ card

Class: “kite", imitate flying the kite

3 New lesson

* Activity 1: 7’ – apply information technology

Encourage the students to point to the picture of the

word that the teacher says

- Play the CD Have the students listen to the story once

- Play the CD again The students listen and point to the

pictures of the key words when they hear them in the

story

- Read the story The students follow their books

- Teacher reads the printed words then let the students

look at the pictures and say the words

- Ask students work in pairs One reads while the other

checks, then they change roles Or one reads the printed

words while the other looks at the pictures and says the

words

* Activity 2: 5’

- Put up the kite, kitten and koala phonics cards on the

board

- Point to the koala and say: “the koala has a kitten”

The students repeat

- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the

song

- Play the CD The students listen and sing along

-Play the CD again The students sing and do

corresponding actions

Activity 3 (7’)

Act 6 How many words that start with the K sound

can you see? Circle, point and say (10')

- Ask students to look at the picture in the book and

name each object

- Decide the beginning sound for each word of the

picture

- Ask students to circle the pictures of the words which

have the sound /k/ at the beginning

- Have some individuals point to the objects of the

words having the k sound and say them again

Act 6 How many words that start with the K sound can you see? Circle, point and say

Activity 4 (7’)

Listen point and repeat

- Show the students the kangaroo phonics card Point to

it and say: / k / - kangaroo Ask them to repeat.

- Mime hopping like a kangaroo and say: / k / -

kangaroo Encourage the students to do the same

- Point to the pictures, the students do corresponding

actions and say the words

- Play the CD, students listen and repeat

- Ask students to work in pair: The first student point to

the pictures and the other student say the word then

change the roles

Act 7 Listen Point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the k sound Say the k words

- Allow the students some time to colour in the pictures

of the words that start with the K sound

- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help

I Objectives:

- Recognize and pronounce the letter Ll and its sound correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Ll words

- Write the letter Ll

Vocabulary: Lemon, lion, lollipop

Sight words: look, a, and

2 Skills:

- Develop Ss reading, writing and listening skills

3 Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson

Work hard

II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2 Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

2 Warm up :5’

Have students play a game: toss the envelop

Give instruction for the game The students will get an envelope with the previous flash cards inside While teacher plays the music, student tosses the envelop to the next

person When the music stop, the student who is holding the envelop has to pick out one flash card and read aloud If the student reads correctly, continue to toss the envelop If the student reads incorrectly, he/she has to dance following a song then

3 New lesson

* Activity 1: (10 mins)

- Use a card with letter Ll (or write on board the letter

Ll) to introduce to the students the new lesson

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name

and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter L /el

/ The letter L says /l /.”

- Repeat several times and check students’

pronunciation (letter L /el / and its sound /l /)

- Use the phonics cards with lemon, lion, and lollipop,

read the words out loud and have students repeat

- Use gestures (hand actions) to help students to

understand the meanings of the three words

lemon: imitate eating a sour lemon

lion: mime roaring

lollipop: imitate licking a lollipop

- Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the

words chorally several times (in the correct order and

then in any order)

- Call some students to say the words out loud and

correct their mistakes (if any)

Act 1 Listen, point and repeat Colour

Activity 2: (5mins)

Have students look at the book and listen to the

expression: “Look !A lemon, And a lion, And a

lollipop! Hurrah”,

Have students point to the objects when they hear

Have students listen and repeat the words for several

times

Give feedback

Colour

Ask students to colour the lemon, the lion and the

lollipop using any colour they like

Go around the classroom, ask students to name the

item they are colouring

Read the sight words : look, a, and

Ask students to listen and repeat

* Activity 3: (5mins)

Read the word and ask students to listen and do the

gestures for 3 words lemon, lion and lollipop.

Change role: teachers does the actions, students look

and call out the words

Chant and show

Use the phonics cards on the board and have students

sing the chant with lemon Do the same with lion

and lollipop.

The whole class sings the whole chant Do the chant

again using gestures for each word

Give feedback

* Activity 4: (5 mins)

Whisper the word kitten to a student

The student whispers the word to the student sitting

next to him/her and so on

The last student says the word out loud

Show the phonics card to check the student’s word

Continue with the other words
