Unit 6 letter Ss Lesson 1

I Objectives:

1 Knowledge: After the lesson, Ss will be able to recognize and pronounce the letter S and its sound correctly, understand, recognize and say the three S words Write the letter S

2 Skills: listening, speaking, writing

3 Attitude: Ss like English, Ss will be more confident about yourself

II Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card

SS: Ss’ book, activity book

III Method: MAT, TPA.

IV Procedure:

1.Organization: (1’)

- Greeting

- Check absent students

1. Warm up (3’)

Matching

T puts 4 pictures on the board and asks Ss go to the board match the picture with the similar meaning

T comments and has Ss repeat all words

2. New lesson

Teacher’ and students Activities contents

Activity 1: Presentation & Practice (10mins)

- T writes on board the letter S to introduce to the

students the new lesson

- Instruct students how to pronounce the letter

name and the letter sound

- T has Ss repeat several times and check

students’ pronunciation

- Ss: listen and repeat

- T uses the phonics cards with sun, star, snake

read the words out loud and has students repeat

- Ss: listen and repeat

- T uses gestures to help students to understand

the meanings of the three words

- Stick the cards on board and have students

repeat the words chorally several times (in the

correct order and then in any order)

- Ss: read in chorus

- Call some students to say the words out loud

and correct their mistakes (if any)

- Ask the students to open their books and colour

in the letters

- Give feedback

Activity 3:( (10 mins)

- T has Ss look at the book and listen to the

sentences “ This is a sun/star/snake

- Ss: look and listen

- T has Ss listen and repeat the words for several

times

- Ss: listen and repeat

- T asks Ss: Is it a sun?

- Ss: answer yes/no

- T has Ss to point to the corresponding item in

the picture

- Ss: +listen and point then repeat with the rest of

the items in random order

- T gives Ss 3 minutes to choose the picture

- Go around the classroom asking students to

name the item they’re circling

Activity 4: (10mins)

- Use the phonics cards on the board and have

students sing the chant with sun Do the same

with star and snake.

- Do the chant again using gestures for each

word

- Give feedback

III.Production (5mins)

Activity : Letter Writing Race Game

- Ask the students to open their notebooks.

- Give the students 2 minutes to write as many

Ss’s as they can

- The winner is the student who has written the

most

I Objectives:

1 Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read and say the three S words correctly recognize and say a new S word correctly

2 Skills: listening, speaking,

3 Attitude: Ss like study English

II Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, flash card

SS: Ss’ book, activity book

III Method: MAT, TPA.

IV Procedure:

1.Organization: (1’)

- Greeting

- Check absent students

2. Warm up (2’)

- Show the phonics cards, ask students to do corresponding actions then say the

sound of the letter and words

3. New lesson

Activity 1 (10 mins)

- T encourages Ss to point to the picture of the

word that the teacher says

- Ss: listen and point

- T plays the CD Have the students listen to

the story once

- Ss: listen

- Play the CD again The students listen and

point to the pictures of the key words when

they hear them in the story

- Ss: listen the story and point

- T reads the printed words then let Ss look at

- Ss: look and say

- -T asks Ss work in pairs One reads while the

other checks, then they change roles

- Ss: work in pair

Activity 2: (5 mins)

- T point to and says the sight words: look, a,

in, and then has Ss repeat

- T has some students read them aloud.

- Ss: read aloud

Activity 3 (10 mins)

- T asks Ss open the book p.72 look unit 6 then asks them read the song - Ss: read in chorus - T follows the same procedure and presents the rest of the song - T plays the CD - Ss: listen and sing along - T plays the CD again The students sing and do corresponding actions - Give feedback Sight Words: look, at, the, and, are, in today 5.Song 4 Consolidation: (2’)
