I Objectives

- By the end of the unit, students will be able to:

+ pronounce correctly the -ed ending in verbs

+ use the lexical items related to the topic " Films"

+ know the meaning and how to use -ed and -ing adjectives

+ use although, despite, and inspite of to express contrast between two pieces of information in the same sentence

+ use however and nevertheless to express contrast between two sentences

+ read for specific information about someone's review of his / her favorite film + talk about a film ( its plot, main characters, cast, etc.)

+ listen for specific information about someone's favorite film star

+ write a review of a film

- Students will be developed 4 skills: speaking , listening , reading and writing

- Students will be educated to talk about favorite films Ask and answer questions about film posters

UNIT 8: FILMS LESSON 1 : GETTING STARTED ( P 16 - 17)

A OBJECTIVES

- By the end of this lesson, students will be able to listen and read the dialogue between Duong and Mai to understand the details then do some more tasks to understand more about films Use the lexical items related to the topic " Films" + Vocabulary:

+ Grammar: Suggestions, present simple ( revision)

- Skills: practice and develop listening, reading and speaking skills

- Political thought and moral sense: educate students to have knowledge about types

of films

- Textbook, teacher’s book, lesson plan, board , chalks, pictures, posters, stereo and the CD record, projector

C METHODS:

Brainstorming, Rub out and remember, pre-questions, choose the best answer, matching, interview

* Activity 1:Read the conversation again, then choose the best answer:

- T asks Ss to read the conversation again, then work in pairs to choose the correct answer to the Qs

- Let Ss to work in pairs to complete the sentences with the adjs in the list

- Call some Ss to read the sentences aloud

- Ask Ss to study the remember box Draw Ss' attention to the difference in use and meaning between -ed and - ing adjectives by analysing the examples in the

remember box Then ask some more able Ss to give some more examples

- Show Ss the table in part2 Ask them to complete the table with the -ed and -ing form of the adjectives

- Have Ss complete the table individually Compare with their partners Then have

some Ss write their answers on the board before checking with the whole

class.With a weaker class, ask for translation of each pair of adjectives to check their understanding
