IV PROCEDURE:

Spend a few minutes revising previous lesson Get

pupils to play Bingo, using the places in the

neighbourhood they have learnt( bookshop, sweet

shop, supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, cinema,

school)

3 Listen and tick: (10’)

a Pre-listening:

- T looks at the books and sets the scence:

How many colums are there?

- We are going to listen to two dialogues and tick the

correct picture

- Ask pupils to look at the pictures to identify the

shops and objects.( 1a sweet shop, 1b bookshop, 2a

some books, 2b some pens 3a a supermarket, 3b a

bakery 4a some vegetables, 4b some drink) Check

understanding Then ask them to read the questions

and guess the answers

b While-listening:

Look at pictures and answer the questions

b While- writing:

- Ask pupils to do the tast independently

- Ask pupils to swap their answers

- If there is enough time, invite some pairs to act out

the dialogues

5 Let’s sing: (10’)

- Tell Ps that they are going sing the song Let’s go…

- Ask them to read the line of the lyrics aloud.Check

understanding

- Play the recording all the way through Ask ss to do

choral and individual repetition of the song line by

line until they get familiarized with the pronunciation,

the stress, the rhythm and the tune of the song

- Play the recording again and get Ps to sing along

with the recording

- Divide the class into two groups, one sings the

questions and the other sing the answers

1 Look, listen and repeat.

- T tell ps that they are going to learn to ask for and

give reason

- Ask Ps to open their book on page 242 and look at

the pictures

- Have them look at the pictures to understand the

context in which the language is used Ask them

questions such as: Who are they? ? What are they

doing?( in picture a and b , Tony makes a suggestion

to go to the zoo, Linda declines, and Mai accept.

Then Mai makes another suggestion In picture c,

Tony asks Mai for the reason and Mai give the

reason In picture d, the three of them go to the

supermarket together.) Check understanding.

- Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for

ss to listen and repeat Do choral and individually

repetition, pointing to the characters speaking

- Play the recording again for Ps to listen and repeat.

2 Point and say.

a Vocabulary:

- Teach the form and meaning of the pairs of

adjectives under the pictures.:hospital, fild, factory

and office

- Checking: Slap the board

b Model sentences:

A: Why do you want to go to the zoo?

B: Because I want to see the animals.

- Concept check: intonation, using

give reasons for going somewhere, using Why do you

- Let them look at the bubbles and the four pictures to

identify how the language is used

- Point to the first picture and and model the task

with one pupil, Why do you want to go to the zoo?

And another to answer Because I want to see the

animals.Ask pupils to say the question and answer

chorally and individually Repeat the procedure with

the other rows in the table

- Ask Ps to practise in pairs, one asking the question

and the other giving the answer, using the prompt in

the bubbles and pictures

- Select some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of

- Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying words

with one, two, three and four syllables

- First, explain to pupils what a syllable is.Then put

the four taget words on the board, using vertical lines

to divide the syllables

- Play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few time

Then put the words on the board, play the recording

and ask Ps to repeat a few more times After that,

write the sentences on the board

Play the recording a few more times and let Ps say the

sentences , paying attention to the target sounds

- Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds,

words and sentences until Ps feel confident

- Get some Ps to perform in front of the class Check

as a class and correct the pronunciation, if necessary

2 Listen and circle Then write and say aloud

- Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the recording,

circle the correct options and then write the words in

the blanks

- Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in

groups to give a demonstration: one group chants the
