transferred from the process engineer to the project engineer upon issuance of the “P&ID for Construction”

Internal P&ID Review Meeting

The internal review, presided over by the project engineering manager, shall be conducted from the overall and specialty standpoints and for the purpose of enabling personnel concerned in each discipline to

deepen their understanding of the relevant processes.

(1) Internal P&ID Review

The internal P&ID review is carried out basically by all the related

discipline engineers, especially the following:

(a) Project engineers, from the Contract requirement’s view point

(b) Engineers in charge of the piping design

(c) Engineers in charge of the instrument and control design

(d) Engineers in charge of the plant operation technology

(2) Preparatory Work

(a) The preliminary P&ID is prepared by the assigned process engineers, in cooperation with design discipline engineers and on the basis of various process information in the “Drawing Standard for P&ID Preparation”,

“Design Criteria for P&ID Preparation” which have been prepared at

Phase-1

After the process key engineer checks this preliminary P&ID, it should be sent to the project engineering manager, who distributes this P&ID to the related engineers to review.

(b) The P&ID reviewer, the same person as the job key person or

personnel specially appointed by the department manager, checks the P&ID, addresses the problem items and sends the list of his review

comments to the project engineering manager.

(3) P&ID Review

(a) With the P&ID review meeting presided over by the project

engineering manager, the P&ID reviewers involved are to explain their comments in this meeting.

• Then discussion is held concerning the comment raised by the P&ID reviewers.

• The (process) key person should attend this meeting for explanation

of the basic design and for clarification of the discussion.

• The project engineering manager should determine the conclusions concerning the comments, consulting with the P&ID reviewers and the (process) key person.

(3) P&ID Review

(b) If the P&ID review meeting is not held because of P&IDs simplicity,

or other reason confirmed by the project engineering manager, the engineering manager should collect the comment from the P&ID

reviewers and examine these comments.

The engineering manager determines the conclusion concerning the comments, consulting with the key person for the basic design

engineering.

(4) Review points

The personnel concerned in related departments shall review the P&ID mainly in respect of the under-mentioned items and from overall and specialty standpoints.

(a) Project engineer:

Cost, schedule, applicable laws and regulations, effect on

environmental pollution prevention measures.

(b) Mechanical (piping) engineering department :

Assumption of the plot plan and piping layout, and review of problems involved.

Display method, measurement and control method, types of instruments (d) Furnace & combustion system engineer:

Furnace and all items around the flare stack.

(e) Package equipment and Rotating equipment engineers

All items concerning operation

The conclusion of the discussion and selected comments should be

recorded in the form of minutes by the project engineering manager.

(5) Following the P&ID Review

(a) Based on the conclusion of the P&ID review, the process

engineers should revise the preliminary P&ID

(b) The process key engineer should check that the revised P&ID reflects all the discipline’s comments, and then signs as

“Checked”

(c) The P&IDs should be approved by the project engineering

manager and signed off He should issue them to the client,

through the project manager

In the case of obtaining client’s approval at this Phase-3, a review meeting will be held with the client depending on the volume of comments by client The client’s approval shall be obtained prior

previously obtained, and JGC’s views on the abovementioned results shall be established.

(2) Attendants at review meeting with client :

At least the respective personnel concerned from the process

engineering department, project department and instrumentation & control department shall attend the review meeting
