LESSON 1: GETTING STARED

I The objectives of the lesson

- At the end of the lesson, students can:

 use lexical items related to the topic “ our houses in the future”

 listen and read to get information about the houses in the future to

 ask and answer questions to describe the houses

II Procedures

1 Warm up: Have Ss to list some kinds of houses they like

Suggestions: Villa, town house, country house, stilt, skyscraper, palace, houseboat, motorhome

2 Presentation

* Vocabulary:

 UFO ( n) ( picture )

 surrounded (adj) ( translation)

 solar energy (n) ( picture)

 appliance (n) ( example)

 wireless (adj) ( example)

3 Listen and read

* Set the scene: You are going to listen to the conversation between Phong and Nick about Phong’s future house

* Exercise 1.a:

- Give instruction

- Ask Ss to work individually

- Ask them to discuss with their partners

- Check:

Appliances in the rooms: A wireless TV/ a friendly robot

- Ask Ss to read the conversation again and find the words to fill in the blanks

I The objectives of the lesson

- At the end of the lesson, students can:

 use simple future with “ will” to talk about actions in the future

 use “ might” to talk about future possibility

II Procedures

1 Warm up: Chatting using “ will”

2 Presentation

2.1 “ Will”

- Form: ( + ) S + will + be / V

( -) S + won’t + be / V

( ? ) Will + S + be / V ? Yes, S + will / No, S + won’t

- Use: To talk about actions we think are likely to happen in the future

Example: We will go to Ha Noi tomorrow

2.2 “ Might”

- Form: ( + ) S + might + be / V

( - ) S + might + not + be / V

- Use: To talk about actions that are possible in the future

- Example: He might come here

- Ask Ss for further examples

3 Practice

Exercise 1: Will/ Won’t

- Give instruction

- Let Ss read the dialogue in pairs

- Ask them let do task individually

1 Warm up: Divide the class teams to compete “Who writes the most actions in

the future ?”

2 Practice

* Activity 1:

- Ask Ss to prepare 6 pieces of paper

- Ask them write 6 phrases on them : Go to school, take pictures with our cameras, have telephones at home, go on holiday to the beach, watch new films in the

cinema, send postcards to friends

- Explain the rule of the game
