a.The past simple

* Using: We use the past simple to say that something happened in

the past (yesterday, ago, last week, last month, in ….)

*Form:

+ S + V(ed)

- S + didn’t + V

? Did + S + V?

Example:

1 I (meet) her at the movie theater last night.(met) à met

2 He (go) to the English club every Sunday But last Sunday he

(not go) there, he (go) to the City’s Museum.à(goes- didn’t go -

went)

b Present ferfect

- The present perfect tense with Sine and For

Have / has + PII Since + point of time For + a period of time

- The present perfect with already and yet.

+ Yet : used in the negative and question

+ Already : used between auxiliary and main

- The present perfect with Ever.

Have + S + ever + PII ?

EX: Choose the best answer to complete the sentences:

5- Past progressive : S + was/were + being + VPII
