- Ask Ss to close the book, discuss the
differences between them:

In the past, the town used to have only small houses, but now there are tall buildings.
In the past, there weren’t any hotels, but now there is a hotel in the town.
In the past, there used to be no cars in the town, but now there is a big car park with a lot of cars inside.
In the past, the roads used to be small, but now they are bigger and wider.
