This British Stand ard specifies req uirements for the

and warning marking s
The products this stand ard cov er are sing le stra s,
g eneral y ma e f om braided rub er cord with wire
ho ks ( sometimes k own as bung ee cords), or multi
stra s an end at achments ( sometimes k own as
spider ) but ma v ary in form and material used
They ma also be sup led as p rt of another
sy stem, such as lug g ag e car ier or shop ing

2 Construction
2.1 The prod uct shal be fe fom any ac es ible
bur s, sharp edg es or other feature that could cause
injury in hand ling
2.2 I the en at achment is constructed with a
locking sy stem then any risk of fing er entra ment
shal be broug ht to the at ention of the user b

3 Product marking
3.1The product shal car y a waterpro f la el which
shal be of suficient streng th that it can ot be
d etached fom the stra b a for e of up to7 N
a pled b fing er g rip only The let ering on the
la el shal be printed red on white using ca ital
let er of3mm minimum heig ht for the word
“ W arning ”,1mm lower case “x” heig ht for the text
and shal comprise the folowing :

At the point of sale the instructions for use shal be

A.2.3 Enclosur e, to contain any debris f om a

A.3 Test spe imens
Attachments f om an as embly ma be tested
sep rately , but any cut ing , sep ration, mou ting or
securing of the sample shal be car ied out so as not
to afect the at achment being ev aluated an so that
the for e is a pl ed in a man er representativ e of
normal use
A.4 Tem perature of test and conditioning
Conduct tests with the specimens at ( 20±2) °C,
at(–15±2)°C and at( 40±2)°C
Cond ition the specimen at the test temperature for
at least4h prior to testing
