C.1.1 Prior to cut ing the hose, a ply a lay line ( of a
colour disting uisha le f om that of the hose cov er)
along the leng th of the hose folowing the natural
hose curv ature which results f om the hose being
coied in a rol ( se Fig ure C.1)
C.1.2 Cut the hose to prov ide a hose as embly test
piece with a f e hose leng th as shown in Ta le C.1
Fre hose leng th is the outsid e ex osed hose leng th
betwe n the fit ing s in the finished hose as embly
C.1.3 Assemble fit ing s to the hose in ac ord nce
with the man facturer’s instructions
C.2 Pre onditioning
Subject each hose test piece as embly to the neutral
salt spra test d es ribed in8.10 folowed b heat
ag eing in an ov en at ( 10 ±1)°C for ( 70±2)h with
the hose as embly in a straig ht position
C.3 Instalation of test pie es in the test set up
After precond itioning , instal the as embly as
shown in Fig ure C.2 and proce d as fol ows, using
config uration dimensions g iv en in Ta le C.1
a) W ith the mov able manifold, Y, of the flex test
machine at the centre of its stroke, con ect fit ing
to the mov able manifold in such a manner that
the lay line is located at the top-centre position
( se Fig ure C.2)
b) After fit ing has be n coupled with the mov able
manifold, connect the fit ing to the stationary
manifold, X , without imp rting any twist to the
hose, but alowing the hose to se k its natural
curv ature
C.4 Test proc dure
Flexure/pres ure cy clng test p rameter shal be as
fol ows:
a) total flexure stroke ( 152 ±1.6)mm;
b) flexure stroke f eq uency ( 10 ±5) cy cles/min;
c) ambient temperature in the rang e2 °C
to27°C;
d) internal air pres ure on test

The air pres ure shal be alternately fuly “ on”
for( 60±5)s and ful y “ of” for( 60±5)s
C.5 Fai ure point
The faiure point shal be d etermined b los of air
pres ure throug h the fai ed test piece As the air
pres ure is alternately fuly “ on” for6 s and ful y
