1 Scope
This Part of BS AU2 7 specifies req uirements for
the perormance an instalation of dev ices
desig ned to lmit the ma imum roa spe d of motor
v ehicles b control of engine power

For the purposes of this Part of BS AU2 7 the

the spe d of a motor v ehicle as indicated by , or
measured f om, the spe d sensing dev ice used as
p rt of the v ehicle’s road spe d lmiter

the intended mean v ehicle spe d when operating in

marked on the v ehicle and used for cal bration
purposes

W hen the v ehicle, run ing at its set spe d and with
the driv er’s ac elerator at its position of ma imum
trav el, is subject to an ac elerating for e due to a
down g rad ient, the l miter shal control spe d b
restricting the eng ine power to the l miter’s
minimum eng ine power control set ing
NOT The limier ma alow normal ac elerator control for the
purp ses of g ear chang ing
5 Fa ilur modes
No malfunction of the l miter shal result in an
inc ease in engine power a ov e that d emanded b
the position of the d riv er’s ac elerator

7 General
The l miter shal be suita le for instalation in the
v ehicle and shal be instal ed in ac ord nce with the
l miter sup l er’s tech ical instructions
8 Tamper- proofing
The l miter and its con ections neces ary for its
operation, except those es ential for the run ing of
the v ehicle, shal be ca a le of being protected f om
any u authoriz d ad justments or the inter uption
of its energ y sup ly b the at achment of sealng
dev ices and/or the ne d to use special to ls
9 Power supply
All components neces ary for the ful fu ction of the
lmiter shal be energ iz d whenev er the v ehicle is
being driv en
The v ehicle shal be marked with the fol owing
a) The name or trad e mark of the lmiter
calbrator
b) The number and d te of this BritishStand ard,
i.e BS AU2 7-1a:19 7
c) The set spe d , ex res ed in mie/h, at which the
