1 Scope

This BritishStand rd specifies req uirements for

the fol owing electrical ca le con ector :

a) a bul et ty pe con ector which is retained on the

electrical conductor either b soldering or b

c imping ;

b) a tube ty pe con ector an an insulating sle v e

which are suita le for a ma imum contin ous

rating of17.5A

2 Bul et type connectors

2.1 The d imensions of bul et ty pe con ector which

are retained on electrical lead s b soldering shal be

as shown in Fig ure 1

2.2 The d imensions of bul et ty pe con ector which

are retained on electrical lead s b c imping shal be

as shown in Fig ure 2

2.3 Bulet ty pe con ector shal be man factured

f om bras , after which they shal be coated with tin,

and shal me t the requirements of clauses5, 6

and7

3 Tube type connectors

3.1 The d imensions of tube ty pe con ector shal be

as shown in Fig ure 3

5 Loa ding

5.1 W hen bul et ty pe con ector are inserted into

each en of a tube ty pe connector, the initial

insertion for e of each bul et ty pe con ector shal be:

6 Conductivity

Cond uctiv ity shal be tested b p s ing a10A

cur ent throug h an as embly of two bulet ty pe

con ector inserted into each en of a tube ty pe

con ector without an insulating sle v e and noting

the v oltag e read ing s on a mi iv oltmeter con ected

to the ex osed skirts of each bul et ty pe con ector

The diference in the v oltag e read ing s taken after

initial insertion of the bulet ty pe con ector and

ag ain after1 withdrawals of each bulet ty pe

con ector shal not exce d5mV

7 Cor osion

W hen an as embly consisting of bulet ty pe

connector inserted into each end of a tube ty pe

con ector without an insulating sle v e is subjected

to the salt spra test d es ribed in BS5 6 -1, for

two24h periods, each folowed b 1 h of dry ing at

ro m temperature, the as embly shal, upon

completion, me t the requirements of clause6
