UNIT 8: CELEBRATIONS

Lesson 4: Write I/ Objectives.

1/ Educational aim

Ss should celebrate a day for their parents

2/ Teaching aim

By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to write a letter to a friend / penpal to show their ideas

1/ WARM UP (5’).

- Have students play game: Word Square:

- Give the right answers:

: celebrate, tradition, flowers

2/ PRE- WRITING (10’).

- Present some new words

(n): tradition, day off

(v): support, enhance

(adv): nationwide

- Have ss listen and repeat

- Call ss to read individually

- Have ss play game “What and where”

3/ WHILE-WRITING (18’).

- Have ss look at the poster, use words cues to

complete a letter a friend why they want to celebrate

Mother’s Day or Father’s Day

- Ask them to present their writing on the board

- Have them peer correction

- Give some comments

- Give suggested answers:

In my opinion, it is necessary to have a day to

celebrate for our parents

The first reason is that, on these occasions, children

will have a special day to express their feelings,

memories and great love for their parents We have

a chance to enhance family traditions Besides,

members of families can have an opportunity to get

together, to know one another and to help one

another

I think first Sunday of April is the most suitable day

to celebrate because Sunday is a day off so people

have free time Moreover, April is in late spring or

early summer, and the weather is fine

It is unnecessary to have a big party but it is good

idea to have a family gathering when members have

lunch or dinner together Children should give their

parents flowers, send them cards, or bring them a

special cake Children also should serve their

parents the food that they like best

In conclusion, I believe the idea will be supported

and the day will be celebrated nationwide because

everybody loves their parents and wants their

parents to be happy
