KẾ HOẠCH BÀI DẠY UNIT 9: FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD Lesson: LOOKING BACK & PROJECT

Subject: English 7 Timing: 1 period (45 minutes)

I Objectives

1 Knowledge:

By the end of this unit students can revise the words about the festivals and the Yes/No question of tenses

2 Competence

Communication, creation, cooperation, self- study

3 Attitude

Students can

- be interested in the festivals

- like to talk about the festivals around the world

II Teaching aids (& materials)

Student book TA 7, CD2, ppt file, pictures/ flash cards (page 100)

III Procedure

Activity 1: Warm up (7 minutes)

Goal The activity aims at

- helping students will be able to revise the new words about

the festivals

Input - the exercise in the book, page 100

Procedure - Run through the words in the brackets first

- Ask them to look at the sentences in their text books, p.100

- Divide the class into 2 groups

- Ask students to discuss the answers by answer the words they choose

- Show the answers on the screen and give feedback

2 Activity 2: Complete each sentences by filling the blank with a word or phrase

in the box(8 minutes)

Goal The activity aims at

- helping students to choose the suitable words about the

festivals to fill in each sentences

Input - the sentences in the book, page 100

- Ask students to discuss the answers with their partners

- Show the answers on the screen and give feedback Activity 4: Answer the following questions about yourself (10 minutes)

Goal The activity aims at

- Helping students to use the Yes-No questions to ask and answer about the festivals

Input - The questions in the book on page 100

4 Answer the following questions about yourself.

1/ Are you interested in festivals?

2/ Do you eat banh chung at Tet?

3/ Can you cook any traditional food?

4/ Did you see any fireworks display last year?

5/ Does your family gather together at Tet?

- The form to answer: Yes, I /We+ …./ No, I /We+ … + not

- Show the sentences on ppt screen

- Ask students to ask and answer with their partners

- Ask some students to give the answers

- Show the answers on the screen and feedback Activity 5: Project (8 minutes)

Goal The activity aims at

- Helping students find and talkabout the new festivals

in around the world

Input - Find the new festivals

1 Think of a new festival that you would like to celebrate

2 Discuss the following points

- Name of the festival

- Time and place of the festival

- Festival activities

3 Draw pictures of the new festival or cut out pictures from magazines

4 Present your festival to the class

5 Vote for the best festival

Outcome Students’ answers

Procedure - Divide students into 4 big groups

- Ask students to discuss about the festivals they saw / knew

- Ask students to consider the table of information about the festivals

- Students summarize the information the festivals in the poster

- Ask the class to listen to the reports and ask questions if they would like to

- Students give 1 vote for the best festival

- Teacher gives comments and feedbacks to all 4 posters and

awards a special prize to the group which has the most votes

Homework: (2 minutes)

- Review the words about the festivals and the Yes/No questions.

- Prepare: Unit 10 ENERGY SOURCES, Lesson: - Getting started

+ Read the dialogue about Lan and Mr Tan

+ Focus the words: energy, renewable, natural, coal, gas, wind

+ Do the exercises: 2, 3, 4, 5 page 104
