UNIT 5: FOOD AND DRINK LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED

I OBJECTIVES:

1 Knowledge:

By the end of the lesson, students can:

- Use words about favourite food and drink

- Make a conversation about topic of food and drink by using structure

2 Competence:

Group work and independent working, pair work, linguistic competence, cooperative learning

and communicative competence

3 Attitude:

Ss will:

- Be more polite when asking someone to want to drink or eat something

- Have good eating habits

II TEACHING AIDS & MATERIALS:

1 Teacher:

- Grade 7 textbook, Unit 5, Getting started

- Smart TV/ Pictures, sets of word cards

- Sachmem.vn

2 Students:

Text books, notebooks, posters, …

III PROCEDURES:

Activity 1: Warm up (5 minutes)

Goal To introduce the topic

Activity 2: Listen and read (15’) -Task 1 (P 50)

Goal To set the context for the introductory text

To introduce the topic and the new words of the unit

Input * Teacher draws students’ attention to the picture in the textbook and asks them

questions about the pictures:

1 Do you often eat out with your family?

2 What do you often eat and drink?

* Teaching vocabulary:

- roast chicken (n): gà quay

- order (n): đơn hàng

- shrimp (n): tôm

- fried tofu (n): đậu hủ chiên

- can (n): cái lon

Outcome - Suggested key:

Procedure -Teacher guides students to give the new words

- Teacher asks students to read the conversation carefully and choose the correct answers

- Teacher asks students to share their answers before discussing as a class

- Teacher checks their answers as a class and shows students where to find the answer

in the conversation

Activity 4: Task 3 ( 5’) (P.51): Complete the table

Goal To help students learn the names of some food and drink

Goal To help Ss understand the detail of the conversation
