Writing point: Recreation

Objective: At the end of lesson, learners able to write a passage about what they

did on the holiday accurately

Teaching aids: textbook, chalk and board, slides, screen and projector.

Procedures:

+Have you ever gone camping?

+When and where?

+What did you do when going camping?

- Teacher leads into the new lesson:

a holiday activity: going camping

about holiday activity, Unit 13, part D

II Pre – writing

- Use pictures to present some new words (pictures in the appendix A) + campsite

+ camp fire + sleeping bag + tent

- Teacher reads then students repeat

- Teacher introduces task 1 on page 159: Last weekend, class 11A2 went

to Ba Vi for a camping holiday Below are some of their activities during their two –day holiday

- ask students work in pair to match activities with correct pictures within

3 minutes

- invite some pair to answer

- give feedback and correction

- Teacher introduces: this is a passage of a student in class 11A2 It tells about camping holiday in Ba Vi -Teacher gives whole class a model

of a paragraph writing about holiday (appendix B) and has them to see carefully

- ask students some questions to clear out the format of a paragraph writing about camping holiday

+ What did the writer mention in the introduction? (when/where)

+ What did the writer mention in the body? (activities they did)

+ What is the order of listing

activities? (order of time)

+ What did the writer mention in the conclusion? (feeling about this holiday)

- show the outline of a paragraph writing about holiday activities

1 Introduction: set the scene (where/when/who/what)

2 Body:

 Activities (what do first/second ….)

3 Conclusion: feeling about holiday activities

- ask students to identify the tenses and time phrases used in the model text

- Then, explain students about the use of tenses:

+ Present tenses are used for

describing things of feelings + Past tenses are used to describe actions that happened in the past.

- show student phrases to list the time order of activities:

+ firstly, secondly,… finally + next, then

+ after + Noun/ V_ing + In the morning, in the afternoon…

- teacher shows the task on the screen:

Let’s imagine that last weekend, you spent a two-day holiday in Da Nang with your classmates Write a

passage about this holiday You should write about 80-100 words

- Ask students some question to confirm that they understand + What do you write about?

+ Where and when did it happen?

+ How many words should you write?

+ Which tenses will you use?

III While-writing

Write a passage

- Invite 2 students to go to the board and write while the other students will write down their writing in 10 minutes

- when having 1 minutes left, teacher reminds students about editing their paper and the time

IV Post-writing

- ask student exchange the paper and underline the mistakes with a partner in one minute

- teacher invites some students to comment 2 passages on the board and identify mistakes (if having)

- Teacher gives feedback and correction

- Teacher has students to rewrite their passage at home
