1 Past Continuous/ Progressive Tense: (Thì Quá kh Ti p di n) ứ ế ễ
Present Continuous Tense được dùng để diễn tả:
- Một hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ
EX: Mary was reading an English book at two o’clock yesterday afternoon.
- Một hành động đang xảy ra trong quá khứ thì bị một hành động khác xen vào
S 1 + Past Continuous + when + S 2 + Simple Past was/were + V_ing V 2 /V ed
When + S1 + Simple Past, S 2 + Past Continuous
V 2 /V ed was/were + V_ing
EX: I was watching TV when she came home.
When she came home, I was watching television
S 1 + Simple Past + While + S2 + Past Continuous
V 2 /V ed was/were + V_ing
The phone rang while John was reading a book.
- Hai hành động cùng đồng thời xảy ra trong quá khứ
S 1 + Past Continuous + while + S 2 + Past Continuous
EX: Sally was watching television while John was reading a book.
While John was reading a book, Sally was watching television
2 S + be + always + V-ing: thể hiện ý than phiền, phàn nàn về một việc gì đó mà mình hay người
khác thường hay làm, hay mắc phải (thói quen xấu)
EX: I am always getting up late (Tôi toàn thức dậy trễ)
3 Compound words: T ghép ừ
Chúng ta kết hợp một danh từ (N) với một Gerund (V_ing) để tạo thành 1 tính từ kép
N + V-ing => Adjective
To arrange flowers → flower-arranging

5 Reported speech: Yes/No Questions ( Câu tường thu t: Câu h i Yes/No)ậ ỏ
Để đổi 1 câu hỏi dạng trả lời Yes/No thành câu tường thuật, ta thêm “If” hoặc “Whether”

Indirect: He asked if I liked football.
Direct: He said to Nam, “Do you like football?”
Indirect: He asked Nam if he liked football.
