1.Warm up: Brainstorming

2 Presentation: (Revision) T reviews by eliciting from students.

- The Present perfect

+ Form: HAS / HAVE + Vp.p (Vp.p = Ved / VIII)

Examples: He has lived in Ha Noi for ten years

+ Time marks:

+ just, recently, lately, already, yet, ever, never (…before)

+ for / since (How long ?)

+ Comparing: Present perfect and Past simple

+ Present perfect: the finishing time of the action in the past is indefinite + Past simple: the finishing time of the action in the past is definite

Examples : - Your is short Have you cut it ?

- Last night , I slept for three hours

- The Past progressive

+ Form: WAS / WERE + VING

+ Time marks:

+ at that time, then, between …and …

+ while

+ when

Examples: - I was doing my homework at 8.00 last night

- Lan was paiting a picture while we were making a big cake

- We were having dinner when our uncle telephoned from HaNoi

- Direct and Reported speech

* Kinds of Reported Sentences

- Reported commands: S + ask / tell + O + (not) + to-inf

- Reported statements: S + say / tell (+ O )+ (that) + S + V

- Reported Questions:

+ Yes / No-Qs.: S + ask + O + if / whether + S + V

Examples: - Miss Hoa said : “ Open the windows, Ba ”

MissHoa told Ba to open the windows

* Form of verbs in the passive voice : BE (tenses) + Past Participle (PP)

I / Warm up : Networks

Guide Ss to play game about some famous places in

HaNoi :

Suggested answers :

Ha Noi Opera House/Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum

Temple of Literature /Museum of History/One pillar

Pagoda

Explain the meanings of them to Students if they do

not know

II / Pre reading : Introduce the topic of the lesson

and set the scene “ Imagine that a foreign pen pal is

coming to stay with you for a week What activities

would you like to do during the visit ? -the pictures

in the book may help you “

- Call on some Ss to speak about places of interest

with suggested models :

I think I will take my friend to Do Son / Sam Son

Beach where we can swim and build sand castles

And then we will visit

III / While reading :

- Ask Ss to listen and answer some questions :

+ Do you have any pen pals ?

+ Where does he come from ?

=>If he visits Ha Noi , what will you introduce him?

- In this lesson , Lan has a pen pal and this is the first

time , this friend has come to Ha Noi

* Explain some new words :

1 What do you know about Maryam ?

2 Where is she now ?

- Ask Ss to work in pairs and correct the mistakes

II / Pre – speaking :

- Introduce the situation “ Nga and Maryam have not

met each other before but they know they will meet

each other while waiting for Lan outside her school

- Ask Ss what they will say if they are Nga or

Maryam :

- Correct the mistakes and give suggested answers :

- Ask them to repeat and write

- Have Ss read the dialogue a and put their dialogue

in the correct order

1- Pre listening :

* Set the scene :

- T says : Carol is Tim’s penpal He is from Mexico

She is visiting the USA.Tim suggests doing

something

* Guessing :

- T lets Ss look at the pictures on page 9 and tell what

each picture means

a) Keep off the grass / don’t walk on the grass

b) Go by bus/ Which bus to take: the 103 bus or the

bus number 130 ?

c) Eat in Mexican restaurant or eat Hamburgers ?

* Pre questions :

- T lets Ss read the pre questions

1- Where does Tim suggest going ?

2- How are they going ?

beautiful with all the trees and flowers and a pond in the

middle.

Tim : Carol! Be careful You are walking on the grass The

park keeper is growing some more You’ll kill the new grass.

Carol : Oh, sorry.I didn’t see the sign

Tim : come on It’s time we caught the bus

Carol : Is that our bus,Tim ?

Tim : No.that’s a 103 bus We want the number 130.

Carol : Where are you going to eat ?

Tim : It’s up to you There’s a new Mexico restaurant in

town.

Carol : Oh ,no.I can eat Mexican food I’d rather eat

humburgers

Tim : OK, I know exactly where we need to go
