LESSON 5: WRITE

I OBJECTIVES: After the lesson, students can know the format of a friendly letter and

practice writing a letter to a friend

II PREPARATIONS: Textbook, sub-board

III PROCEDURES:

1/ Warm-up: (7’) Matching

- Cut the letter into 4 parts and have Ss match

into the correct letter

- Lead to the lesson

- Play “matching game “ with the parts

of the letter

- Listen

2/ Pre-writing: (13’)

- Introduce the form of the letter

I A form of a letter :

o Heading – Writer’s address and the date

o Opening – Dear ,

o Body of the letter

o Closing – Your friend/ Regard / Love,

- Ask Ss to read aloud the leter

- Teach some vocabulary

II Vocabulary:

+ Enjoyable (adj)

+ Result (n)

+ Lunar New Year Festival (n)

+ Celebrate (v)

- Check: Slap the board

- Listen and take note

- Read the letter

- Listen, and copy down

- Do as directed

3/ While-writing: (15’)

- Explain the request and ask sts to image that

they are Lan and write a letter to her pen pal
