in an old village by the River Thames near Oxford The shop sells a lot of things-bread, milk, fruit, vegetables, newspaper-almost
everything! It is also the village post office The children in the village always stop to

on their way home from school.

SHOPPING
1 Today, Fanny and her sister want to go
shopping As they have a good many
things to buy they will not go to various
small shop, but to Selfridge’s, the big stores
in Oxford street; it will save time , as
everything can be bought there, in different
departments , from a pound of cake to a
yard of ribbon, from a fur-coat worth £150 to
a lip-stick of £25.

The shoe-department is on the second floor, and Fanny wants to take the moving-stairway ; but
her sister prefers the lift A shop-walker shows
them where it is When they come out of it, a fair little shop-assistant comes up to them.

Mrs Martin – I want two pairs of shoes for
my young sister her; a pair of walking shoes, and another one for town wear.

face shopping again.
