Lesson 1: Part 1 - 2 - 3

I Objectives:

1 Knowledge: By the end of this unit, pupils can

• use the words and phrases related to the topic My house

• describe a house, using There’s a+ (house facility)

- Sentence Partners: There is a living room

- Vocabulary: house, garden, over there, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, dining room, garden

2 Skills:

- Develop Ss reading, writing and listening skills

3 Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson

Work hard

2 Warm up :6’

Play game: Word jumble race

T devides wc into 2 teams and asks ss to reorder the disorder words to make correct sentences T gives ss 4 sentences and give them 4 minutes to reorder After 4 minutes, the team that has more correct sentences will win the game

3 New lesson

* Activity 1: (11’)

- Tell pupils that they are going to practise talking

about house facilities using There is a + (house

facility) Give a few seconds for pupils to look at the

first picture and elicit the names of the characters

and what they are saying Give feedback

- Have pupils repeat the text a few times Repeat the

- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the

characters speaking

- Play the recording for pupils to listen and say along

* Activity 2: (11’)

- Have pupils look at pictures on Page 12 Elicit the

characters in the pictures and their names

Teach vocabulary:

Garden

kitchen

bathroom

bedroom

dining room

living room

Check: slap the board

Model: There is a living room.

Ask pupils to guess and complete the speech bubbles

- Model: Call on a pair Allocate the parts of the

characters Mai and Nam to the pupils Ask them to

point the pictures and act out the dialogues Using the

pictures in their books Monitor the activity and offer

help Correct pronunciation errors (stress, assimilation

of sounds, intonation) when necessary

- Call on some pairs to perform their task at the fron of

the class The rest of the class observe and give

comments

- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus

to reinforce their pronunciation

* Play game: Music box

T give ss a box has 4 numbers, asks them pass the box

to their classmates when they hear the sound When T

stops the sound, S keeps the box stand up, choose their

number and WC ask: What are they doing? S answer

2 Point and say Teach vocabulary:

Activity 3: 6’

- Tell pupils that they are going to practise more with

their friends Give a few seconds for pupils to look

at the picture and read the text Check

comprehension and give feedback

- Point to a room and elicit the word filling the gap

Put the sentence and the response on the board and

have a pair act out the dialogue as an example

Teach the song, following the procedure in the

Teaching the unit components in the Introduction

Read each line of the lyrics and check comprehension

Give the meaning of the new vocabulary Then have

pupils listen to the song all the way through Sing each

line and have pupils repeat it a few times When pupils

feel confident with the tune, show them how to sing the

song and do the actions

• Get groups of pupils to sit face to face and practise

singing and doing the actions

• Call a group of six to the front of the class singing and

doing the actions, while the others clap along

• Have the whole class sing the song and do the actions

Spend a few minutes revising the language learnt by getting pupils to sing the song The way I clean my house.Then play a game of Slap the board,using the vocabulary learnt

Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and

answering questions about house facilities Give a few

seconds for pupils to look at the first picture and read

the text in silence

Check comprehension and give feedback Ask pupils to

repeat the text a few times Repeat the procedure with

the second picture

• Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the

characters speaking

• Play the recording again for pupils to listen and say

along

- Have Ss look at the pictures on page 14

Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names

Ask Ss to guess and complete the speech bubbles

- Model/ allocate the parts of characters the boys and

the girl to Ss

with some other pairs for pictures

- Have Ss practice acting out the dialogue in pairs,

using the pictures

15 of the Student Book Elicit the identification of the

characters in the pictures and the characters’ words

Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording

and match the information they hear to the pictures

-While: Play the recording twice pupils to listen and

number the boxes Check their guess Compare the

answer with the partner

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers T

give the answer

Post: asks ss to look at the pictures and answer some

questions:
