LESSON PLAN UNIT 12: THE ASIAN GAMES LESSON 4: WRITING

* Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to :

- Use connectors and conjunctions when writing a paragraph

- Have awareness of the importance of holding The Asian Game in their

country

- Write the preparations for the Asian Games

- Learn the skills to work in groups

* Lexical items: Vocabulary: Upgrade, Recruit, Promote

Structure : Sequence Adverbs, need+ V-ing, should…

* Skills: Writing, Reading, Speaking.

* Teaching aids: Textbook, handouts, blackboard color pens, posters.

GAME: GOLDEN KITE

- T divides class into 2 groups: Tom & Jerry

- T introduces the rule of the game:

+ T haves one word consisting of 8 letters

+ Hint: The thing that is provided for a particular

purpose.

+ Each team will take turn to say out any letter in the

Alphabet

+ Two teams can guess the word after 3 letters

+ If the letter is right, that group will go up a step

+The group that can guess the word first will win the

game and take the golden kite

- T checks Ss’ understanding of the instruction

+ “How many letters are there in my word?”

(Expected answer: eight)

+ “What will you do if you guess right letter?”

(Expected answer: go up a step)

+ When can you guess the word?

(Expected answer: after 3 letters)

- T lets Ss play the game

- T declares the winner

LEAD IN:

- Ask Ss: “Suppose Vietnam is going to hold the

Eliciting technique: Example

Ex: Our school now is not in good condition We have

to upgrade to make it better So, what does the word

“upgrade” mean?

“This word means to find new people to join an

organization”

- Promote (v): quảng bá, quảng cáo

III.1 Activity 1: WRITING SENTENCES Game: What is the order?

- T divides the class into 6 groups.

- T prepares 6 pieces of paper which contain 6 cues to make sentences

1 build / one more National Stadium / some sports buildings and car parks

2 widen / training areas/ roads to sports buildings

3 equip / hotel / guesthouse with modern facilities/welcome foreign athletes and visitors.

- T delivers 1 piece of paper to each group

- T asks Ss to write a complete sentence from the cue

on poster

the game
