LESSON PLAN UNIT 12: THE ASIAN GAMES

Listening Skill

1 Objectives:

- Skill: After the lesson, Ss will be able to develop such listening skills as listening for specific information and detailed information

- Language: Ss will be able to build a wider range of vocabularies related to the topic

and can talk about athlete they know or like

2 Assumed knowledge:

Students have already known some basic vocabulary items and have had some background knowledge of the Asian Games

3 Teaching aids:

Textbook, blackboard, chalk, cassette tapes

4 Procedure:

4.1 Settlement: Check Ss’ attendance (2m)

4.2 Lecture (43 m)

- Asks Ss to look at the pictures on p.141 and

answer the questions:

1 What are the names of these sports? (from the

left to the right and top to bottom)

High jump, swimming, gymnastics and long jump

2 Have you ever watched sports like these on

television?

3 Which sport(s) do you like best? Why?

- Listen to the instruction and the questions

- Answer the questions

- Read the words out loud

* Task 1 (10m)

- Asks Ss to look through all questions in task 1 to

check whether there are any new words

- Asks Ss to listen to the tape once to do task 1

- Asks Ss to discuss the answers in groups and

exchange the answers

-Calls some Ss to write down the answer on the

board

- Then, replays the tape and pause at the sentence

where the answer is revealed for Ss to check by

themselves easily

- Read though all questions

- Discuss the answer in groups
