Ex1: The woman who/that lives next door is

a journalist.

Ex2: A book which/that is very expensive

has a lot of valuable information.

- Who/ that is used as a subject for people.

- Which/ that is used as a subject for things.

b) Non-defining relative clauses

- These clauses give us more information about a

person or thing already identified.

- When we write these clauses, we must use “comma

(,)” at the beginning and at the end of the clauses.

- These clauses are used in sentences containing:

+ proper name/noun (Ha Long Bay, John, Sirley…)

+ possessive adjectives (my, his, her, their, our, its)

+ demonstrative pronouns (this, that, these, those); etc

- In non-defining relative clauses, we cannot use

Ex : John , who (not “that”) speaks French and Italia ,

works as a tour guide.
